Within the next several weeks I will be breaking my cherry and purchasing my first Breitling. Like a previous post, I am on a limited budget and the two models that I am looking at, are the Chrono Superocean (new) or a Chronomat Evolution (Preowned). I visited a local AD yesterday and they had a preowned Chronomat at another store. They are shipping it to their store for me to look at, with no pressure of purchasing. Here is my problem. When I asked if the watch had the original box and paperwork, they replied no. They advised that since they are an AD the watch will be 100% legit, and all parts will be 100% legit with 1 year warranty from the AD. They further stated that they are the largest distributor of Breitling Watches, so I need not worry about any original documents. I generally would not purchase a preowned Breitling without the appropriate paperwork from anyone, but since it is being sold from an AD should I not worry? Any advise on the subject will be helpful. |

That's easy, go for it! No AD is going to risk their business by selling crap. If you get a warranty, well that's just a no brainer. (assuming the price is fair) I'd love to have a dealer close with used offerings like that. ![]() I think the only concern is to make sure it's a keeper or you will have the problem of selling with no papers. That being said, it wouldn't be that much of an issue because there's plenty of people on this/the forums that can guarantee a watch as authentic. Not having the papers isn't that big a deal to me, price and a real watch is what counts the most. |

Actually that's a very good question. No AD is going to risk losing their Breitling license due to dodgy behaviour, meaning you can probably buy with confidence. Time Bandit is definitely correct in that re-sale, if you were to go down that route, would be more difficult without papers. If it's a good deal I say go for it but I'm definitely intersted to hear what the experts think of lack of Breitling papers ![]() I'd also like more AD's to sell used stock. |

The receipt from an AD would go a long way and would be better than a gray market receipt. I'd probably ask him to write and sign a little note. I'm sure the resale would be fine with that. |

I don't think you have anything to worry about with respect to getting a fake from an AD. But you're likely paying a fairly large premium for the watch. You should be able to get most Breitlings for 50% of MSRP or less. I would guess that the AD is asking more than that. - Dan |

I cannot argue with any of the excellent advice given above. Find an AD you like, you'll not go wrong. Good luck and I look forward to the pics. |

The AD (Goldsmiths UK) where I bought mine (Chrono Superocean) gave me excellant service and put up with me taking over an hour to choose my watch, very friendly (cups of tea) service. Once we'd been through my list compared to the catalogue, I was shown the watches on my short list (6). I originaly told the assisstant (Jason) my limit £3000, and all the watchs he showed me were near as makes no odds to it. I eventualy chose the Chrono, which was £3040 but Jason discounted it to £2900. Result, and a brilliant watch. |
