I've done some research on this, but I was just wondering what methods and techniques you guys use to measure the accuracy of your watches. Thanks! Jeremy |

I use this: USNO Master Clock but might as well use my Emergency Mission. It was set with the atomic clock in late July and still accurate to the second. |

I use some trusted source, either a computer synced to NIST or a wall clock I have that is synced to NIST. Then I zero the second hand on the watch to that source, wait the 24 hours and compare. Watchmakers have fancier devices for this: http://www.ofrei.com/page256.html But I'm not that crazy yet. |

That USNO site is cool, but there's one small caveat. It uses an XMLHttpRequest call to get time data from the server, so it doesn't take into account the latency from client to server the way NTP does. Depending on your internet connection, I suspect it could be off by as much as 500ms. However, it should be fairly consistent if you use it from the same computer. In fact, almost any quartz watch should be plenty accurate over a 24 hours period. |
