Today, when I took of my Emergency, the bracelet broke right of in the welding between the clasp and the bracelet. As a result, the watch fell on the floor from about 1.5 meter. I am sure this will be covered by the warranty, but do you think it's necessary to send away the piece for a three months journey to Breitling for a full check?

Well I would.

Was it the springbar that broke or the bracelet itself?

It was the bracelet itself, or more precisely the weld between the part with Breitling logo on the clasp, and the rest of the clasp.

Never heard of that before.

Take it to the AD and have them check it out, but they will likely have to send it away as it's the Emergency. Tell them how disappointed you are and maybe they'll give you a good deal on another one to tide you over

Jesus. IMO, Breitling bracelets are some of the most well-made, so I am really suprised it just broke like that. I've heard of spring-bars snapping but damn.

I would raise hell.

I was kind of shocked when it happened, but it's almost time for the first service anyway. It's the newest version with super quartz, and it's running about 40 seconds to fast a year. Maybe I have been unlucky with my piece. I'm wearing it almost every day, but I'm really careful with it, as it is my first "real" watch. Attached some pictures of the broken bracelet/clasp:

I would be very disappointing....I would rush to the AD.... :(

Funny thing is, I always have a "bad" feeling something like this will happen to one of my watches as well.

How old is the watch? Obviously must be less than 2 years...

I would talk to the AD, but it the watch head looks fine, just have them comp you a new bracelet. That shouldn't be a problem.

BTW - a quick tip on getting out the surface marks off brushed bracelets - use a kitchen sponge that has the scrubber on one side, and brush the bracelet in water, following the grain of the metal and it will remove 95% of your desk diving marks.

One of these bad boys.

Zirotti: thanks for the tip, but the scratches looks much worse on the pictures. I had to use photoshop to sharpen the pictures up a bit, and the scratches were enhanced. I also believe a full service includes brushing up the watch? http://www.breitling.com/service/index3.php

I bought this watch from the one of the AD's in Copenhagen, Denmark, while on vacation. Thought I made a good deal, but now it seems I should have bought it from one of the AD's in Oslo, Norway, where I live. I contacted one of the two AD's listed as Maintenance Centers on the official Breitling page. He didn't want to have anything to do with it, since it was purchased in Denmark. He told me I have to send it to the other side of the country, to the other Maintenance Center, because it's under international warranty. I would think that both the official Maintenance Centers should help me?

Yeah, me too - that sounds weird.

Especially as it is likely going to have to be shipped to Switzerland anyway.

I got a feeling that he really didn't want to help me out since I didn't by it from him. Anyway, he will not be on the top of my list the next time either.

Finally, I got my baby back from Breitling after almost three months of waiting, but it was worth the wait. I have to say that three months is a long time, but they know what they are doing, it looks brand new after a full service, and they replaced the lock under warranty  I cant find a single dent or scratch what so ever. I even received it in a travel/service case. Looking forward to see if the accuracy has improved.

Good to see they did the repair/replacement under warranty, but that is one hell of a wait.

Surprised that you would have any issues with accuracy on a Super quartz :?

The wait is always longer on Emergency / Emergency Mission because they have to be sent back to Europe because of the transmitter.

Glad that it looks great, let's hope that it now performs great!
