A Christmas gift from the Breitling gods arrived at my door today . . . the infamous Book! I've read some posts on the forum about deciphering what entails one as "special" enough to get one of these bad boys sent to you for no apparent reason, so here are my specifics: I live in the US (Seattle), bought my first Breitling on July 29th of this year, and it happens to be a B01.

It came in an all black cardboard box. My girlfriend handed it to me and I immediately thought it was some special gift from Playboy or something, which would mean I'd have some explaining to do :? . Enclosed with the book was a letter from Marie Bodman (personally singed, by the way). It mentioned the milestone of releasing the B01 this year, and since I bought one, it's probably attributed to why I received the book. In any case, I'm interested to see if other B01 owners get "The Book" as well.

I need to go now . . . I have some reading to do. :lingsrock:

I can't believe that Breitling have such different policies when it comes to gift giving on either side of the Atlantic. I know they run independently of each other, but you'd have thought there would be some consistency. Especially in this modern world of internet fora where people are bound to find out and feel a bit grumpy about it.

Ah so THAT'S where all the salt has gone, because there was clearly none left for the pathetic local authorities to put on the roads around where I work today.

(Sorry for the generally bad tempered undertones to my posts today guys. I'm not in the best of moods thanks to Britain grinding to a halt because the temperature dipped a couple of degrees below freezing overnight.)

I hear you Driver8. Even if I made it to work today, the airport would probably be closed anyway, because the snow which comes at this time of year, every year, and we forecast for days in advance, caught us by suprise..

I remember well the UK's ability to completely shut down the moment a snow flake graces the earth. Other tubes/trains manage to work in the rain but not the UK  I sincerely hope things improves there soon driver.

Congratulations bozman, great that you received 'The Book'. My sentiments reflect the majority here, I really can't understand the disparity in gifts across borders but oh well. Hope you enjoy it.

To be honest, it seems like there are plenty of people on this site that are more deserving of it than me. However, I do plan on reading it cover to cover. I definitely think it had something to do with purchasing the B01. It took about 5 months from the time of purchase to get it, so we shall see if other B01 buyers receive one as well.

Driver, sorry to hear about all the mess in Britain.

On a side note, my girlfriend decided to pick up The Book last night after putting some lotion crap on her hands. Naturally, she left finger prints all over it. When trying to remove the prints, I learned that water does not mix well with the cover material. My advice is to immediately put a book cover or something around it when you first get it. The material Breitling used for the cover is not very forgiving. Very irritating . . .

If my girlfriend did that, The Book would probably get some face moisturiser on it as well...
