Post subject: | Chronomat Questions.... |
Hello all. Been pondering which watch to get for a while now and despite considering IWCs, Omegas and Rolexs etc.... I just keep coming back to the Breitlings. Nearly managed to purchase one of these from an AD a few years back, but it wasn't to be ... ![]() Current favourite is this one..... ![]() But I really don't like the way they've done the big numbers on the subdials on the Chronomat Evo... prefer the way they're done on the crosswind racing... So question is... I know you can send a watch back to Breitling and pay silly amounts to get them to swap dials. But is it possible to order slightly customised in the first place via an AD.. and still pay around the normal price??? Cheers! Dave. |

How about a Chronomat with Arabic or Roman Numerals? The Arabic Numerals is probably the closest to the Crosswind. Breitling sometimes will change a dial, but you do pay for it, but I would assume that you only get to pick from the current dials for that watch, like going from blue to silver. They aren't going to make a one off dial. |

Had looked at the roman numeral & arabic ones... but without wanting to sound like a fussy bugger... Although I much prefer the subdials ... I don't like the way the dials cut through the 8 & 10.... plus the numbers and numerals make the dial a bit cluttered for my liking ![]() ![]() Just wish they'd do either of these subdials on the standard Chrono Evo with the hour markers.... Cheers! Dave. |

Maybe a CSO. It has a baton dial and the subdials you want, with the color you want. The difference is 2 mm less at 42mm and a different bracelet. Although i do prefer the pilot bracelet, i prefer the crown on the CSO and it was 1700$ less! |

That's a good call actually.... this is actually very close to what I'm after... ![]() But I can't help feeling that without the tackymetre... the dial is missing a certain something. The first time I put a crosswind racing on, I remember noticing the extra 3D effect it gave the dial, compared to most normal watches I'd had before.... Starting to look like I'll just have to hope they revise the Chronomat in 2010.... Cheers! Dave. |

These all work fine for your needs. The CSO would be still the best choice. Enjoy! Robertus |

Starting to think maybe a Blackbird is the way to go. Not sure whether I prefer the black or the blue. Kinda fancied a blue face, but not sure about it on the Blackbird. Don't suppose anyone has any 'real world' picture of this one?? ![]() Cheers, Dave. |

I was the exact same! Wanted different colored subs, and the numberes being cut off really bothered me. But, wanting the watch (SA), and having to make the choice, I decided it was more important to me to have the silver dials on blue, and I'd just deal with the subs. (or simply just sell the watch again) The good new is once I had it, especially after a few days the cut-off numbers really didn't bother me at all. (and I really did dislike that about watches) My point being is sometimes you get past these little things once you own the watch. You asked about the Blackbird, that is my other watch and I love it. I think the blue dial looks good, and best on an Ocean Racer. If you plan to wear the bracelet a lot I think the black dial is better. (Brushed BB) |

OK... so had a wee browse round the ADs recently and the numbers on the subdials are actually a lot better looking in the flesh than I thought they would be from looking at the website.... So back on this one as the favourite again... ![]() Plan would be to get it with the bracelet and also a leather strap probably. Just wondering... can you get the bracelet in the satin (matte) finish, or is it only available in super shiny polished form from the ADs for this particular model. Cheers! ![]() |

I Love the chronomat... but I would stick with the polished look. I think the brushed bracelet may look funny ![]() |
