I have a slight Dilemma.

I was all set on purchasing a Cockpit MOP Pilot braclet Breitling but now having seen a Super Avenger Chrono White i'm Torn between the two.

I know alot will come down to personal preference but i wondered if i could get some views from the experts?

In my opinion, these are two very different watches. The cockpit is more of a dress watch.

You have to ask yourself if you want a Chronograph or not on your watch.

Also the SA, while very nice, is a massive watch, you HAVE to try it on before buying.

I tried it myself and the watch absorbed all my tiny 6.5 inches wrists, so it was a no go for me. Go to your AD and take a look.

Thanks Hutt.

Im asking myself that question right now...do i want a chrono??

My head says "You dont dive, you dont fly......so why do you want a chrono?" so the choice should be easy but the SA looks very nice, although i do like the pilot bracelet for the cockpit.

I have tried both on and like you say hutt, the SA is a big watch and does look alittle imposing on my wrist. Do SA owners find they bash their watch on things due to its size?

Have you looked at the new baton dial of the Avenger Skyland. Looks a lot like a SA, but a bit smaller at 45mm.

Take a look.

Edit: Also, most of us don't have a chrono for the fonctionality, but for the looks. Although i use it to keep track of time and rise up the Blinds in poker games. Hehe

I don't fly or dive, but I use my chrono all the time for daily events. Timing things in the oven, parking meters, drive times, even how many hours I sleep... I find it VERY useful.

Between the two watches you are looking at, you are comparing a Lexus sedan to a Hummer. Two very different watches and both nice in their own right. For quality, they are both Breitlings and therefore you can expect the same reliability and quality from each. The SA is massive and make s a statement, a LOUD statement. It doesn't go un-noticed and doesn't fit under many shirt sleeves. But it is gorgeous. The Cockpit is understated elegance, classy, timeless, and will be more versatile in attire IMHO. Maybe a Chronomat Evo would be a nice compromise between the two?? You just need to ask yourself which one suits you and your personal style better. Ask friends or spouse if it helps, but always use your gut as your final verdict.

Good luck,
Mark

Oh, and to respond to the "wrist bashing". I found that it took me a couple months after owning more expensive watches to start to behave in a way that protects them. It is a subconscious thing that you need to develop over time and then it becomes natural. For example, when I walk through a doorway, I walk through first and then swing my watch hand slightly behind me automatically to avoid the door frame. Also when reaching for anything in the fridge, I use my right hand (the underside of fridge shelves can really do a job on a watch or AR coating). It takes some time, but you'll develop your "watch force shield". This applies to either the Cockpit or SA, although the SA will reach out and grab a few more things if your aren't careful.

 Oh jeez, there's someone else like me! I'm totally with you on this, and you're right when you say it quickly becomes second nature. How sad does this sound!

Check it out on Breitling website in the configurator.

The black, the gray and the silver can be ordered with baton dial now. The blue doesn't seem to be invited to the party though.

Thanks Mark and Hutt for all the information. Its really helped me come to my decision, which is to stick with my original idea of the Cockpit.

The originaly reason i wanted one was for its understated elegance Mark and your post hammered that home. The SA did what its made too, which is make a statement and get peoples attention. Although a beautiful watch i feel after the initial few months i will be thinking of the Cockpit.

Cheers once again for the advice, i will post pictures up of my first Breitling this weekend. :)

This is so funny because it is so true... your hand will start to automatically move out of the way of things and even when I rest it on the counter I always go elbow first not wrist first... glad I'm not the only one now I can tell my family that I'm actually normal!

I don't like commenting on these x vs. y discussions, but I think that you made a wise choice.

If you prefer the Pilot bracelet you can try that of the new Chronomat B01 on the Avenger Skyland. If you do so, let us see scans!
Good luck!

Hi guys,

Im the happy new owner of a Cockpit MOP with pilot braclet. I was really pleased as the AD decided to throw in the leather strap as it had faded a little from the window.

Apologies for the standard of photo took them on my phone. I will do some proper ones later in the week.
