My Bentley 6.75 seems to be losing chunks of time but not gradually. I decided to gauge accuracy the other day and it lost about 9 seconds + in a day. Thinking it may have been user error I wound it up and set it again this a.m. and about 8 hours later was spot on. Just checked now (4 hours later) and it lost 15 seconds!! Only thing I can think of is it stopped for a few seconds to lose that much time in a few hours. Any insight appreciated.

Accuracy can be affected by a lot of things - position, amount of power left in the mainspring, temperature, etc and that's before we get into any issues around needing a service.

A watch won't usually stop and then restart - if it's stopping with power in the mainspring then there is a servicing issue - a lack of lubrication most likely, but the watch won't likely restart on it's own - it may restart with movement, activating the chrono, etc, but there has to be a cause.

I suspect that it's more a power reserve thing, but take it to the AD for checking against the timing machine - preferably with the mainspring wound down and then on a full wind. More info really needed on this one.

Thanks. As for usage, I don't wear it regularly and don't keep it on a winder so it does wind down. I thought my first test may have been due to an inadequate wind but did wind it thoroughly this a.m. and wore it all day. I bot it used but the seller bot it in 2008 so should be covered. I don't have experience with this. Can I go to any AD or contact and ship to the one it was purchased from? I don't have the purchase receipt and the book is stamped by the AD but no date. Is there an online way to check if a watch is in its warranty period? How kindly are 2nd owners treated? D I have to be the original owner to get service? thnx again :)

PS. I put up a separate post about this but the rotor seems to take a lot of arm motion to get going.

As you have been told on the other thread, the rotor's fine.

You can take the watch to any AD and there shouldn't be a problem. There certainly won't be an issue just to time it.

Thanks for the reponses. It will be off to BUSA but I think I may know what's up. It seems as if the overwind protection kicks in way too early so I may not be getting a full wind and full power.

That's a mechanical impossibility.

The 'overwind protection' is nothing more than the mainspring slipping in the case. If the mainspring slips then by definition it has a full wind.

Perhaps I should stick with my day job which obviously isn't watch repair. I fully wound it last night and came home to a stopped watch. After about 10 turns the winding sound had the intermittent click as if it was fully wound. I screwed down the bezel and it didn't start ticking. I am not even going to try to trip it into working as I want BUSA to get it in its non-working state. Hope they turn it around quickly :bow: :bow:.

Based on what I've highlighted I think that's a smart move. I don't think that you are hearing a slipping mainspring, that shouldn't click. I think that you have a problem somewhere in the keyless works.
