I watched his season premiere last night on BBC America and he was sporting a different watch (I think) than I had seen him wear before. It wasn't the yellow Chrono Avenger that he has worn in previous seasons. It looked almost like a B01, but he's so damn twitchy that I couldn't get a good look. Anyone know what he's sporting lately? |

Humble pie is a really good read! You should be able to pick it up cheap from amazon. Also playing with fire is pretty good although based a little more around his business life. Sorry off topic I know! |

I find Gordons shows very entertaining, and I quite like his persona. Kitchen Nightmares was a geat way to show the human behind the tyrant. Gotta respect the guy, he's not the worlds best chef (although he is very very good) yet he has built quite an empire. Good on him. |

Prior to him coming out to Australia I would have agreed entirely with you all but now I honestly think he's a bit of an idiot sadly. I respect his cooking and his business sense but I must admit after he came out to Australia and made a complete dick of himself I've now turned off him completely. His shows are humorous and certainly entertaining and were new and fresh when they first came out but now I'm not so sure. Funny how one bad experience of someone can change what you think. Having said all that I did like the shows where he would attempt to educate a restaurant owner and chefs how to improve the business. Good stuff there

Ramsay visited Australia earlier this year for some shows in Melbourne. Funnily enough what he was remembered most for during his time here was not his cooking but his bizarre rant against one of Australia's journo's by the name of Tracey Grimshaw. Just to clarify I'm neutral on Grimshaw so wasn't personally affended or anything like that and truthfully I found a lot of it pretty funny but despite that it was definitely strange, put a lot of people off and he basically made an idiot of himself. Ramsay eventually apologised but only probably because of the furore it caused, which definitely surprised him; the man definitely doesn't think before he acts. |

Sorry off topic I know! I can only find the 92pp abridged version in the US. There are some offered as used and imported, but I have no idea if it is the full version or not. I also completely agree with the Bourdain books. He is a fantastic writer. His show has gotten a bit stale though, to be honest. I read about the Australian situation at the time and I couldn't understand why he was doing what he was doing. No doubt he can be sexist (as many chefs are), but it seemed as if he was just digging himself a deeper hole each time he opened his mouth. I think anyone in that business - much like any other entertainment business, sort of - is probably deeply flawed in one way or another and sometimes those flaws surface. Either way, I'd love to sit down to a meal with the guy. |

Thanks for that info I will have a look at the Bourdain books! Ps if you want to see some real Ramsay in action have a look at a program called boiling point series 1 the whole series is on you tube. It's before he really got famous and was just opening his first resturant on royal hospital road. Some of it is really funny like the bramley apple incident but some is really shocking! It's hard to believe some of those guys he's giving a real hard to actualy run resturants for him now! Sorry even more off topic!! |
