Hi Guys- I'm thinking about getting a Blackbird. Which way looks best satin or polished? Do you find it comfortable on the wrist?

Well I am old school on the Blackbird and think that they should have never polished it. There aer plenty of shiney Breitlings out there and the brushed finish was one thing that set the Blackbird apart. I want one of the newer "big date" versions, but I wouldnt even concider buying a polished one, even at 50% off... (well.......unless someone could brush it for me real cheap! :) ).

I think the faceted bracelet looks real nice in polished tough...

I just picked up a satin one a couple of months ago. The faceted bracelet is much more comfortable than the PRO II. It is an awesome watch. I would only discourage because your other Bs will get lonely on the winder!

I hate it too Al, but I'd be prepared to put up with it for you.
You have my address so, I'll do you a favour and take it off your hands.
Get it in the post.
And you don't have to thank me.

Best wishes,

Verner

IMHO the Blackbird should always be brushed. The original was named after the spy plane so an undertstated brushed finish seems by far the most appropriate.

In terms of comfort....., well I can't say I've ever come across an uncomfortable Breitling on a bracelet. Pro I, Pro II, Pilot, Navi, the old Fighter bracelet - all of them are never anything less that totally comfortable IMO.

Driver8,

It's a scary machine! The 'Duxford 10' had the honor of viewing one in the Summer.

To think it is decommissioned.......do they have summit better up there??

Have to go with the matter version as that is much classier but in an understated way... just going to be listing mine as a matter of fact I really wanted it but it is just not the right watch for me at this point.

I have a brushed Blackbird and the faceted bracelet and batons (the steel either side of the lume) catch the light amazingly when the wrist moves. To me the watch looks incredible and it's certainly very comfortable. I've seen the polished version at ADs and IMHO it just doesn't look anywhere near as good, combined with the faceted bracelet it would be a bit like wearing a disco ball on your wrist... Brushed is much classier to my eyes and as already mentioned much more in keeping with the Blackbird brand.

You need to compare in real life, I wasn't sure whether to go brushed or polished based on the website/book but in real life there is a huge difference.
