Post subject: | Colt 2 Automatic Stopped and Starting again |
Hi, I've bought a Colt 2 Automatic about 2 months ago. Last weekend I left it at home since I was going to travel for 4 days. Obviously when I returned it had stopped. Still, even though I've given it some "turns" it is not starting again. Since I've got a particular caring for this watch, I've always been very careful with it. And I've given it 40 turns every 2 days with proper care as per instructions. Only within the first couple of days I let it stop once since I was not used to need to "charge" a watch. But after "turning" it a couple of times it started working, which it not happening now. It's dead... The "day" display is working, I was able to update the current date, but I noticed that when I tried to update the time the pointers were not gently gliding, they were a bit bumpy, until I was finally able to set the current time. I know that I don't have any alternative, I need to go back to the watch dealer. Can anyone please help me with the following couple of questions? I'm working abroad and I bought the watch where I'm working. Still, I've left the warranty paper at my home country. Does anyone know if the store keeps the warranty details and will send the watch to be repaired without my papers, or if I need to go back home and get them? Secondly, has anyone had a similar problem? I'm a bit disappointed... I've been a passionate for Breitling for a long time, and when I finally was able to start working and buy one I was very happy. Still, two months later it stops working... It was supposed to be a watch for life... Thank you all |

Will the watch start with a little movement - a GENTLE bump or shake? If so then it may simply be out of beat and once started will run fine. Not sure about the rough time setting though - it may simply have been that the stem wasn't fully pulled out and the castle gear wasn't meshing properly - does it do it every time? As it's under warranty then getting it checked is obviously safest. Breitling tends to be fairly regional so not sure what can be provided internationally, but worth asking the local AD to check with the store you bought from. |

Thanks for your reply. I've just got back from work and the watch was working! I set the correct time, and it stopped working again. Hasn't started yet. Something doesn't seem to be right. I'm going to take it to the seller. Any ideas on the estimate time Breitling usually takes to work on a watch? |

Well, you don't tell us where you are nor where you bought it, so it's hard to say how long it will take. In the USA, my experience has been about 2 months for warranty repair. Sorry for your problems, but I'm sure it will be fine once you get it back. When I brought my first watch back to the selling AD for warranty repair, they sent it off no problem. When I brought my second watch in that I had bought elsewhere, I had to bring in the warranty book, which they included with the watch when they sent it off. No problems with that. Good luck!
