Hi guys, iv had a Super Avenger for 3 years, but rarely wear it (mainly special occasions) however iv just received my new white python strap from panatime and am going to start wearing it more.

The annoying thing is, if i set the time, wear the watch for a day, then leave it off for a day, the time stops so i have to keep resetting it. Is there anything i can buy to prevent this from keep happening?

Also i read about a ''bad time'' to reset the watch, between 8 and 3 or something? does anyone have more detail on this? iv always reset the watch and not bothered to check times etc :(

Is it between 8 and 3 if the watch has stopped!? or between 8 and 3 current real life time? i really dont understand it

Please advise guys

Wearing a watch isn't enough to wind it, just to keep it wound.

You need to give the watch a full wind (40 turns of the crown) and then wearing it should keep the watch fully wound. A full power reserve will allow the watch to run for around 42 hours after being removed.

You must not use the quick set date function or wind time backwards during an indicated time of 8pm and 3am or you run a serious risk of breaking the watch.

when you mean rish BREAKING the watch do you mean it stops working all together or mess up the mechanismn? i have no idea and have never checked times when i have wound the watch :( but it still ticks as normal?

Also the 8 and 3 indicated time is the STOPPED time on the watch right? so what do i do if that is the time on the watch yet i need to set it? do i wind the power reserve and wait till it comes out of that time zone????

The only things that you cannot do between 8pm and 3am are:

1) Use the quick set date

2) Wind time backwards.

If it stops between an indicated time of 8pm and 3am then simply move the indicated time forward. Winding it can be done anytime.

Not following these rules will lead to a broken or bent tooth in the date mechanism sooner or later and then the date won't change properly and you'll have to send it to Breitling for repair.

Think im going to need to get the instructions out, i have no idea what the quick set date is or how to do it :wowzers

Hope i havent already broken it then :(

Is there a step by step guide to resetting the time? ie move it out of the 8 to 3 time zone, wind it, set the time and date? really confused :(

Well reading the instruction manual might help!

The quick set date is when you pull the crown out one step so that you can change the date without affecting the time.

To set the time and date correctly, and with no risk, I always:

1) Make sure that the indicated time is not between 8pm and 3am. If it is then wind time forward until it is outside the window

2) Set the date to the date before the current date

3) Wind time forward to change the date to the current date and set the correct time. That way you can be sure that you are not 12 hours out.

4) Give the watch a full wind.

One question about that one Roff.

When winding forward, I might give it a few mm backwards movement. Maybe because the minutehand is wound a mm past the mark, or I miss the direction on the crown. Is this harmfull, or is it actuall full bacwardswinding that hurts the watch?

A slight move isn't going to do any harm. The problem with winding time backwards is that you may strip the date gear when doing it, but a slight, gentle move isn't going to do that - you'll likely only pick up the play in the wheels.
