Post subject: | Superocean Heritage 46 - good value? |
After initially really not liking the Superocean Heritage 46, I'm actually starting to warm to it now. I still don't like either bracelet or strap options, but the idea of maybe a speed bracelet fitting it is giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling! (Or maybe I've wet myself......) However while I am becoming a bit of a Heritage convert, am I the only one who thinks that it's a little over-priced? Let me explain my rationale - In terms of function, then at 2000m water resistance, the Steelfish is pretty much the "state of the Superocean art", as it is the most technically competant steel diving watch in the Breitling range. In the UK it costs £1500 on the bracelet. Now the Heritage is 2mm bigger in diameter, but a few mm thinner in terms of thickness. It's also, at 200m, only water resistant to 1/10th of that of the Steelfish. Aditionally they both use the same calibre movement (Breitling 17, I think), and yet the Heritage costs £400 more than the Steelfish?!? What's that all about?? ![]() |

SOH is more dressy and the last model of SO. Don't see anything else relevant. |

As I said before, and not to offend anyone, the SuperOcean Heritage is my least favorite watch in the Breitling lineup. The bracelet is horrible in my opinion. It lookes better on the rubber strap! In the Breitling family, the Steelfish SuperOcean is much better. Personally, I would much rather have a Rolex GMT or Submariner. ~Brian |

Agreed about the standard Heritage bracelet, Brian. But I am getting into the Heritage head a bit more these days, purely because it is a bit different for Breitling. I certainly wouldn't pay full price for it though..... |

I'm not the greatest fan of the SOH, but not totally uninterested either. My major issue is that I like the dial on the 38 much more than the dial on the 46... If I could get the 46 size and the look of the 38 dial, I'd be interested even on a rubber strap. But till then, I'll wait and try to focus which Navitimer I want for this year... |

While I just got a new Steelfish, with black dial, I must admit the SOH was growing on me - a lot, in fact. I seems to bear quite a bit of similarity to the Omega, but the Breitling just has a lot classier more polished look to it. I think all the three colours are awesome, I would probably go for the bronze. I happen to love the bracelet, too, although I have not tried it on it looks very comfortable. The SuperOcean does seem the best value of any Breitling. The detail is amazing on the watch, and it is definitely sturdy! I honestly doubt that I will ever be 6600 feet under the sea, I don't even like swimming. With the nice, wide steel bracelet, it sure is heavy! I don't think you can go wrong with any Breitling. Cheers, Carl |
