I'm in the process of finding a genuine bracelet for my Cossie. In the interim, I was thinking of getting an aftermarket bracelet with the curved end-links as I really do not like wearing leather.
Is there potential for an aftermarket bracelet to damage or scratch the case? Can I prevent this by putting some tape or something to minimise the contact between the end-links and case?
I have bought a few clone bracelets from eBay. Some are better than others, it is hit and miss. Most come unbranded as the term clone implies, but the last one came with the Breitling branding which in my opinion is morally wrong. Anyways, to answer your question, I have used a piece of scotch tape on the end piece, cut very carefully along the edges with x-acto to fit precisely and it works well to protect the case. Just make sure the edges of the end pieces are not burred (curled over sharp edges). If so, take a fine file and de-burr the edges to protect the watch case.
I have found that despite the decent quality of the clones, nothing can replace the real thing and it will never feel quite "right" without a genuine bracelet, so I suggest just waiting for the real thing if you can.
