I'm just about to buy my Breitling, looks like its gonna be from George and here is the dilema... the SO or the SO SF? If anyone could help me with some feedbacks and sugestions I'd apreciate it.. some questions... is the SO SF Too big for an everyday use? Is the SO more discrete? thanks!!! |

The Steelfish would probably be more discreet since it has the brushed finish. The Steelfish would be fine as an everyday watch and the small difference in size shouldn't make a big difference for everyday use. |

If you want greater wrist presence, then the Steelfish at 44mm (only 2mm bigger than the Superocean) has also got a 22mm lug width, as opposed to 20mm on the SuperOcean. I found that I liked the looks of the wider strap/bracelet better. The Superocean with the polished everything is a lot blingier. The Steelfish, though, has just the right amt of bling, and the dial is absolutely beautifully finished. The only thing I would say, though, if you are getting a blue dial: I have never seen a more beautiful blue dial than on the new Superocean. There is one at my AD, and I almost got it just because the blue dial is so beautiful! As a matter of fact, it is so beautiful that I would say even if you are considering a silver or black dial, if you can see the Superocean in person with the blue dial, take a good look. Cheers, Carl |

I have a tiny wrist and even so the SF isn't ridiculously large on me. I think it's gorgeous and with the (mostly) brushed finish, it's not quite as imposing as it might be if it were all polished. Buy them both and see which one you wear more often. ![]() HTH, Michael |

The steelfish really is a great watch had mine for 3 months and hardly ever take it off! The look is a little understated but it still attracts a few looks. I had the diver pro strap and it's great for everyday wear and can take a few knocks. I think the dial and brushed effect just beat the superocean! Also IMO the fish will retain slightly more value in the future? There's always The other problem tho, it's damn I should have brought the other one or I should have saved a little more and got the other other one!! Lol it never ends! |

Another Steelfish vote (from a former owner). It doesn't wear big for 44mm, and it was just fine on my 6.5 inch wrist. |

And just to add my vote - yep the Steelfish is the one to go for IMO........ assuming you like the look of it when you try it on of course! I've owned one SO and 3 SOSF's over the years and the SF is the much better watch IMHO. As others have said the slightly dressy dial goes very nicely with the predominantly brushed finish of the case. It really is a great all-rounder and is perfectly at home in the sea or with a suit. In actual fact (and even though I don't own one now) if I could only own one watch then the SOSF would probably be in the running as it's such a great all-round piece. Not too expensive (so you're not scared to wear it!), not too dressy, not too "tool", great water resistance, a hardy solid movement, not too big, not too small, not too polished, not too brushed....... what's not to love? Heck I've almost talked myself into wanting to buy a 4th! ![]() |

Wise words as usual Driver8 I also find my Steelfish very much a Goldilocks type time piece. Not too big for my 6.25 inch wrist - but not too small either. Not too informal on an Ocean racer - but not too formal on a Pro II. Not too blingy thanks to its brushed upper surface - but not too subdued thanks to its polished sides. Need I go on ... Peter |

I love my SOSF a lot more than I thought I would. I have a 7.5" wrist, and discovered that I just love wearing a big-ass watch that's built like a tank. And people notice it ![]() In terms of toughness, I don't think you can go wrong with a Colt, SO, or SOSF. I don't have a SO, but my SOSF and my Colt GMT are the watches I wear when I don't really want to have to worry about dirtying or damaging my watch. Which one of these models you want depends on the size that works best for you. I think the preference towards the SOSF you see here is because of that. That said, I can almost guarantee that once you get a big watch, you will wonder how you ever liked the smaller ones. --Mofongo |

Hi!!! I am the owner of a 2007 Steelfish, and I can just say that this is the best choice I have made! SOSF is an elegant, sport and hard watch you can wear it in every situation, with jeans, suit, t-shirt, shirt, etc, the SOSF goes always well! The movement is perfect, and the construction looks almost as new, after two years of constant use... So, go for the Steelfish, you wont regret! Best regards from Madrid! |

G'day I just recently got the SOSF Blue dial .. was first looking at SO but noticed it was a little small and it shined a little to much for my taste!!! for a few bucks more the choice to go for the S0SF was a lot more impressive. ![]() |
