I have a Breitling Blackbird big date, it's polished SS with the old case back. it's a year old and in mint condition but the book is not dated. I might need to sell it but i'm not sure what price to set it at. Can anyone help? If this post is out of order i apologise.

The easiest way to see what a watch is worth is go on eBay and filter by "Completed Auctions Only" and look for the ones in green as they are ones that actually sold. I've just done that for your Blackbird and the general price for current model Blackbirds that sold is around £1700. HOWEVER from what I can tell these were brand new, so if you were keen to sell you may need to go lower than that.

that's a big depreciation for a watch thats costs 3 times that much new!

Thanks guys, i contacted a couple of watch dealers and they quoted between £2200-£2600 so that's pretty good i think.

 Really? If they are offering you that kind of money I'd jump on that like a shot if I was you! Ebay is usually a very good barometer of "real world" value, and there are a number of BB's priced over £2K on there that didn't sell for their asking prices. As I say, the only ones I can find all went for around £1700. If you can get £2200 - £2600 for it then I'd suggest going for it ASAP!

I'm amazed by that, I've seen a few for 2200-2600 on the bay but have just seen the one that went for £1700! I think I know what my next watch will be :)

I'll buy yours for £1650 :)
