Actually Friday was, but after a painful UPS experience I finally got my new Super Avenger. I REALLY wish I had an AD here because I would not have bought a blue dial. It's gotta to be the worst shade of blue I've seen on a watch and my Tag dial is stunning by comparison.

So a year down the road if I still feel the same way any idea how much it will it cost to switch to black or white? I have a Blackbird so wanted something very different and got it, just can't like this dial no matter how much I want to. For anyone who hasn't seen it in person it's almost like a blue gray mix, and as I said in my opinion doesn't come close to stacking up with how nice the rest of the watch is.

If only it could be Super Ocean blue... now that would be great!

Here's a pic, not a great one, but a pic!

Damn!

That's bad news - I feel gutted for you.

I think that your best bet is going to be to sell and replace the watch rather than a dial change. There have been a few reports of more reasonable costs, but on current models I haven't heard of any lower cost options so looking at $1,200 - $1,500 for a swap with the service that Breitling insists on. Hopefully those prices are coming down with a more reasonable attitude from Breitling, they definitely are on discontinued models.

No way that your AD will take it back or swap it for another watch?

Thanks and I am really torn on this but don't think I'll bother asking to return it. I have a feeling I'll grow to like it, but if not than maybe in a year I'll trade or sell it off. It's just a drag because price-wise I'm looking at something along the line of Seiko or G-shocks for the next couple of years! This was suppose to be the one to hold me over.

If its still brand new, I dont think your AD will have a problem taking it back. Ive returned a B before, as have many others. If youre not happy with it now, you might never be.

I like it, just don't love it. I don't know if this makes any sense.... but to put it on and inspect it close the dial color bugs me, but if I seen a stranger walk buy I would think awesome watch. So I'm trying to sell myself on it on that it looks very good from that perspective. Ironically this is the replacement for my blue dial diamond Tag that has just the opposite problem. It's beautiful from a foot, but is only 39mm and after owning a Breitling it feels like a ladies watch and is just too small from a distance. I'd gladly pay another grand right now if I could combine them into my perfect watch! Oh the troubles we have huh. :D

I think the contrast between the blue and the silver subs is lovely.

To hell with that! it matters what you think, not a someone passing by. Personally I love the blue, but if you don't, thats it! I'd get it swapped while you can. Why try to convince yourself of anything, when you can solve the problem now? :?

So do I .... in pictures! But in person it's more flat. It's probably the AR coating that makes the difference. As I said I think if it was Super Ocean blue, or what I believe the SO looks like, I'd be over the moon.

Maybe I'm just being picky and I do give it very high marks otherwise. I do wish I had seen it first but hey, that's life. I'll bet it draws more attention and comments than my BB, but how couldn't it, it's huge. :lingsrock:

Ok I'm done being a baby. It's crazy to nitpick such a wonderful piece of metal. :D

There was no way I had another ling in my budget this year but I had a little luck and this is essentially a FREE watch. :lingsrock: I risk looking like a real geek if i told you how it came about.

Move over Tissot, get out Tag, and say hello to Blackbird, the SA is here to stay! :P

I feel you pain...I always wanted a blue face timepiece...I loved the AS and started to look on-line... the blue face AS looked great!!! I went to my AD and ordered a blue face AS with the pro II...when I went to pick it up a couple of weeks later, I was a disappointed with the color. The blue looked so nice on-line but in person it wasn't as blue as I expected. I bought the AS anyway because I was so excited, I figured I would warm up to the color but didn't. I even went back to my AD a couple of weeks later to look at the rubber straps...in my opinion I didn't think the blue or black OR straps looked good at all! I didn't love it either so I figured if I spent this much money on a timepiece I should LOVE it!! About two months later I decided I didn't like the color at all, sooooo I called up my AD asking him if it would be a problem to trade it for a black face....to my surprise he hooked me up and I also bought a black OR for the summer months. Now I'm happy!!!! :lingsrock:

No, you did not understand what I am saying or I didn't make it clear enough. Basically what I meant was "I" like the look of it from a distance, nothing to do with what others think. That's the point I was trying to make.

If I didn't have a Blackbird I would even take a loss to switch it for the black dial. (Actually I would have got the black in the first place) I still might at some point, but will keep this one a while and see what happens. It's not the end of the world but man a bright blue dial would have been smokin! You wait and see if they don't release one in two months, it would be just my luck.

Why dont you buy another dial off ebay and get a local watchsmith to fit it for you?

dials on ebay are about $300 and a watchsmith will not charge you much to fit it as its a easy job to do.

i know this might affect your breitling warranty though.

Ahh, my mistake  Apologies. I hope you do warm up to it, as it is a beautiful piece.

No need for an apology. I think it will be ok and to be honest I'm not sure if I'd like any of the other dials any more than this. White must seem massive on the wrist, and when I angle this one to look dark as if black I don't think it would be a great improvement. So basically what I'm saying is no matter what SA came it might have been like not love anyway. The Blackbird was my pick of the bunch and I love it, and in time I'm sure I'll love the SA too. If not, it's some great trading material towards the next one I really want. There's really no point staying negative.
