Hello everyone, this is my first post and i think you have a really nice forum! I have ordered my first decent watch, the Breitling Super Avenger 2009' Black with batons and the pro2 bracelet. I can't wait to have it delivered to me probably next week. I have been thinking about it for a long time and finally i just went and ordered it. Because of the high price level in my country i am buying it abroad at an AD for approx. 4000USD. Does this sound very high? Retail in Norway is 5800USD. My question is; I am thinking that everyday use may make the bracelet a bit unconvienient so i am thinking about buying a strap that i can change between. I am thinking about the black croco strap, but i am happy if the people here have any other good ideas. Can you swap bracelets/straps yourself or do you have to go to the dealer every time? Is there anything i should know about switching bracelets/straps? I also have another question about the SA, i have seen on a friend of mines that its possible to screw the button (crown?) out like a screw. I have heard that you have to make sure this always is screwed on tight if not the watch is not 100% waterproof. Is this right? I am thankful for all answers ! |

Hello, welcome and congratulations! Changing bracelets/straps is easy to do by yourself. I prefer to use a springbar tool called Bergeon 6767F, in my opinion one of the best for the job. They don't have to be expensive, get it either at ebay or by http://watchtools.co.uk/. While changing, just think before you act and try to be steady on the hand to minimize scratch risks. If you want to play it even more safe, you can use regular tape to protect the lugs before you start. You are right about the crown too. ![]() |

That price seems pretty high for US dollars. |

Thanks for really quick answers ! I have ordered the tool now, thanks. Any input in different straps? IMO the ocean racer rubber strap makes the watch look a bit cheap. Ok, but maybe the price level over here is completely different, but at my local AD it costs 33.000NOK (Norwegian Crowns) and 1USD = 5.6NOK according to the currency. So i think it is right. But the dollar is low compared to NOK nowadays it used to be 1USD=7NOK (4700USD for the watch) |

The only problem is the norwegian 25% tax for all imported goods. There are sites that offers watches in norway at a lower price, but when people buy watches in this priceclass they often want to pay a bit more and buy from AD. |

Getting it wet with the crown unscrewed may or may not allow water to enter. Its certainly not recommended to leave it unscrewed. |

I have the standard black leather strap (with the tang buckle). I am thinking about getting the deployment clasp for the leather strap. Is it ok to use my current one and just add the deployment clasp... Or do i need to order another special leather strap? Also, when changing the straps/bracelets yourself, my AD advised against it because he said there was a real risk that the springbards could be damaged when changing. Something he checks for and replaces where required. Is this a real issue? Thanks for all the info and advice. |

mrfaize wrote: The Breitling deployant clasp uses a strap without holes so if going for a Breitling OEM clasp or a similar after market version you'll need a new strap. You can go for a genuine Breitling strap or look at the many after market resellers (cheaper) there are. Well, actually, you could use the regular tang and buckle strap with the deployant. If you remove the buckle and attach the deployant there, you're more or less done. I just checked what it would be if I did that on one of my straps - from the tang holes there would only be one (merely) visible close to the deployant, the others would be hidden under the deployant. Of course, the stitching will look different, but if you can live with that it's actually not such a bad idea. |
