I have been obsessively wanting a Breitling for a couple of years now. I was driving my wife nuts! Always on watch websites. Visiting my AD too often to try them on. My wife really came through for me on my Birthday this year. Here's my new Navitimer:

That is one of THE classic Navitimers. Silver dial, arabic numerals and brown croco strap - superb. Congrats and congrats on the big "4" "0" too!

Thank you all. I really appreciate it.

This site has really sparked my interest in Breitlings and quickly turned it into a raging wildfire. I can't stop looking at my Navitimer. I have literally had people honk their horns at me at traffic lights when the light turns green and I am still staring at the dial on my Navi.

I also got a black croc strap for it, which hasn't been on the watch yet, but I can't wait to try it because the black strap seems to make the black hands and writing on the dial pop.

Not only did my wife get me the watch, but this is how it went down. First she brought out this cake:

Image

Get it? Let us [watch] as Todd turns 40!

Then she brought out a gift wrapped box. I opened it in front of 80 people and inside of the gift wrap was a Yellow Breitling Box. My heart skipped a beat with excitement. I opened the Breitling Box. And what was inside? A beat up piece of junk rectangular watch with a cracked crystal. I was like "Huh?" I didn't know how to act in front of everyone. She let me hang there for a while! Then she brought out a second gift wrapped box. I opened it up, and there was the Navitimer. It was very mean yet funny and memorable. I have the beat up junker watch sitting in the Breitling Box in my office as a keepsake memory of the whole thing.

Plus it gets better. My wife told any guest who asked her what I wanted for my birthday to get me a gift certificate from the watch store, and I had enough gift certificates to get myself a beautiful Tag Carrera Twin Time too!

That cake is priceless! :D

A belated happy birthday. I'm sure you had a great time.

And what a watch to get - THE classic Breitling.

Now that's a birthday with style! I got the Breitling bug a few months ago and bought a blackbird, and this coming Monday ling #2 will be delivered. :lingsrock: I had a great time shopping, and learning about all the models, what I liked, and didn't like. Unfortunately I've decided my fun is probably over until my 40th (in 23 months), at least as far as spending several grand on a watch. That's not to say there aren't at least a dozen out there I'd love to own!

PS... It's a good thing you bought the Tag right away because just having on B tends to give you tunnel vision towards the second. I do think the Carrera is pretty sharp though.. good choice!

Nice story and awesome watch. Ive been thinking of trading my black dial navi in for a silver dial for a while. I love the black, but I think I might just love the solver even more.

Good patience, to wait until you're 40. But better late than never.
