Hi guys, Hoping to get some input on my ad for White Dial Super Avenger I have for sale on the For Sale area. Is my price too high? I'm at about 35-36% off retail and it's 3 months old, got it from George. I've had a few low-ball offers but that's about it. I've listed a few times on TZ as well. I haven't sold here before, only bought my Herc on TZ and my SA from George so I don't really have traditional references. But I did put my eBay ID for some sort of background in buying/selling. Maybe I'm just being impatient and it's a good price and I just need to hang out for the right buyer? I guess the white stencil SA isn't a popular watch! I'd appreciate any input from folks that sell more regularly here. |

Bear in mind that US buyers are looking at close to 30% off retail for a new watch from an AD, so relatively for a small premium over yours they can get a brand new one. Unfortunately for you the fact that it is only 3 months old isn't really relevant (vs say 6 months / 12 months) - sure it still has warranty, but it's still pre-owned. There are plenty of SAs on eBay and the sales forums to help you see what they sell for. |

I think your price might be just a touch high. I just bought a SA off the secondary market so I did a lot of research, that gave me a feel for the current selling price of a SA. As Roff said, a diligent shopper may be able to find a new one for slightly more than your asking price. Also, there were a lot of SA's on the various forums, all were asking right around $3,000 and they were not selling at that price. I ended up paying $2,400 + half the Paypal fees for mine, though mine is not quite as nice as yours. I contacted George when looking for a SA so I know how much you paid and the hit you are taking to sell your watch. While I feel for you (as I have been in that situation many times), I think it's just a sign of the times - people are forced to sell off their luxury items and others are picking them up only if the deal is really good. Good luck with the sale, sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. BTW, I really appreciate the fact that you asked for advice. I dislike seeing sellers getting upset when their item doesn't sell and blame the forum for the lack of interest when it's just that their price may be too high. |

Good advice from Roff and Ross. IMO I think you've got some pretty good pics of the SA but it's a little bit of work to have to look at them, having to click that pesky mouse button and all ![]() Good luck with your sale. |

Having purchased from George myself with his fantastic deals, are you factoring in enough depreciation on top of the discount that people know you can get off list price brand new? |

I believe yours is the new Stencil dial right? Arabic dials usually are listed for for mid $2500 and batons up to $3000. However the actual sale price could be much less. I personally think $2800 would be a very fair price for your watch and you should hold steady. |

Well I see now that you've sold it - congrats! ![]() I sold my Montbrillant via eBay (although the buyer saw it here as well) and it took a few weeks and a few relistings. It's a tough market in this economy. It's even tougher when you're in the position that you need the money, as the OP had stated. That's rough, but I'm glad he was able to get rid of it. A win-win as we say; someone got a great deal on a nice watch, and RTWillbur can feed the children this month. ![]() Michael |
