I bought a 1997 Navitimer(model d13022) on ebay last week. I just wondered if anyone knows what movement was installed in watch? I will need to know this if a jeweler opens the watch and is not familiar with breitlings. Any jewlers in the charlotte,nc region familiar with breitlings?

Hi !

It is a Valjoux 7750 base movement that has been reworked by Breitling and thus tranformed into Breitling Caliber 13 a very robust movement.

However, no one but an authorized Breitling horologist should open & attempt to repair any Breitling watches.

In addition Breitling makes certain components available only to such authorized by them to make repairs.

Best Regards,

I'm sure any competent watchsmith (not the "fit a new battery for £5" you find in department stores) would probably be able to perform a service on a B13 movement. The ETA / Valjoux 7750 it's based on is the world standard automatic chronograph movement and used in thousands of different models so they should know it well.

However, Breitling do modify the movement (don't know how) so it's certainly sensible to take it to an AD for them to send to Breitling if it's in need of a repair and with a Breitling service, it will come back like new so imho worth paying the extra for.
