Post subject:  Colt Quartz II - Second hand question

Hi all, I am new here, thank you for a very informative forum.

I have a quick question about the Colt Quartz II I just purchased. I noticed that when I am holding the watch at eye level looking at it, the second hand is only aligned with the markers between the 35 and the 55 markers, and then it looses alignment for the remaining markers. I suspected gravity had something to do with it.
I kept the second hand parallel to the ground and pointing towards my left by rotating the watch counter clock wise and sure enough the second hand was aligned with all the markers all around. Then keeping the second hand parallel to the ground but pointing to my right this time, I rotated the watch counter clock wise, the second hand missed every marker.

I am not sure if that has been mentioned before, but should I be concerned with the fact that the second hand has a little play or is that normal for Breitling Quartz watches?

Thank you for your help

Ted

It's not the hands that have slight play, it's the gears on the wheels - if they didn't then they would lock tight.

It's perfectly normal so enjoy your watch!

And welcome to breitlingSource.

Just to reinforce what Roff has explained, I also own a Colt Quartz II and was a little concerned when the second hand didn't line up perfectly with all the markers. If you study its motion for a few revolutions it will most likely line up with different markers.

I think it seems to have got better with age, but as already said, normal behaviour
