Hi everybody, For the people who don't know me yet, I am a Breitling watchmaker, who can answers all your general mechanical question (even if I hate it, I have to say it too, but all your quartz question too.) I already replied few technical question, but I have to search them in the forum ( or maybe I'm doing something wrong ?) Can the webmaster, make a technical forum ? Regards, K. |

It's great to have you in our midst! I have some questions... How does one actually become a watchmaker, what is the career path? Were you trained by Breitling or did you learn privately, etc.? Something I've always wondered about! Also, are you assembling the B01 movements yet? Is it really as good as it sounds!? How does it compare to the Cal 17, etc. |

Yop, I've learned watchmaking in a technicum in Switzerland for four years ( Horloger complet). Then worked for Frank Muller in Geneva and then the Richmond Group. - Tourbillon - Perpetual Calender - all type of complication. - Panerai - Cartier - IWC - Piaget - Franck Muller - and Breitling of course. When I started to work for Breitling, they gave me and teach me their standard. I would say that you have the theorie part and then you learn a lot with the 70 years old people who are suppose to retire and still work because there's not enough watchmaker and they give you all the "watchmaking secret". It is basically impossible to make a school and be able to repair watches. See ya, K. |

as a watchmaker how stand breitling in form of quality..if you compare Panerai - Cartier - IWC - Piaget - Franck Muller - omega obviously its hard but im interested what you think...thanks in advance

End of this week, I will go back to Switzerland to learn the B01, Then I will be able to tell you the difference between the old Breitling and the Breitling as a manufacture. But on what I saw, the B01 looks alot like the Frederic Piguet that I worked on at Franck Muller. But in general I would say that you have the low brand wich is - Tissot, Movado, etc etc Then middle high: - Breitling, Omega, Cartier, Rolex, Piaget Then the high brands: - Franck Muller, Patek, IWC, The "new" Panerai, (Piaget) This is for the few brands that I already spoke, but after that there are so many other swiss brand, where I have a lot of watchmaker friend working there, like Breguet, Jaeger lecoultre, Vacheron et Constantin, ... that I'm not gonna explain myself, there are too many things (positive and negative) to say.
