What is the name of that thin raised ring between the bezel and the crystal? I never know what to call it. Also, is it part of the case or is it a separate piece that can be replaced? If it can be replaced, can any jeweler do it, or does the watch have to go back to Breitling? The reason I ask is that I just received a used Super Avenger. The previous owner installed a brand new bezel, and the crystal is clear and unmarked, but that ring between the two is somewhat nicked and dinged up. So the only thing that keeps the watch from looking nearly new is that ring and it bugs me everytime I look at the watch. Thanks for your input and advice. ![]() |

It's called the "chimney" and it's part of the case. It can be polished during a service (or you can do it yourself if the scratches aren't too deap), but it can't be replaced without replacing the entire case. |

Shoot, the nicks are a little too deep to polish out and the chimney butts right up against the crystal so I wouldn't want to try it anyway. I guess I'll have to wait until I have the watch serviced to see if Breitling can do something about it. |

I had a fairly deep scratch removed from a chimney during a complimentary polishing from the AD - was actually very surprised how well they managed to get rid of it. |

Not the greatest photo, but you can just about see the damage on the chimney of the Cockpit at 5 o'clock that was completely removed by a polish: ![]() |
