Hi All,
I just purchased a Breitling Colt 2 a few days ago and have been having problems with its time keeping. On sunday it stopped while I was wearing it in the airport. On the trip home from Belfast to Glasgow it didn't move. At home I set the correct time and placed it in the watch winder. The second hand started to move and when I checked the next morning it was still running and had the correct time.

I wore the watch on Moday and by 1000am the watch had stopped again. I used the manual wind yesterday for a few minues and the watch lasted till the end of the day and then stopped. I have a Rolex GMT Master 2 and it has never needed to be wind manually, today I have taken the Rolex of the watch winder and so far its going no problem.

Is the Breitling not as sensitive as the Rolex when it comes to wrist movement? Could there be an issue with the winding parts of the Breitling
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks
Richard

I currently have 2 breitlings. A super avenger and a 6.75. I havn't had that problem with either one. I suggest a trip to your ad. Maybe the rotor is getting stuck or something. If you give it a quick flick on your wrist can you here the rotor spin? Either way I would shoot to the dealer. You have a 2 year warranty on them so I am sure they will take care of it. If you don't mind can you shoot me a pm when you find out the issue. Im curious. Good luck and don't worry to much over it although it does stink when it happens to you. :(

There is definitely a problem somewhere, and it does sound like a problem in the automatic winding mechanism. Take it to the AD and have them check it out.

Im currently experiencing a similar problem with my Superocean, which I purchased brand new. It held its full 40 wind charge for 2 days, then stopped, whilst being constantly worn. Im waiting on the AD concerned to verify the problem. At best Im a little concerned with breitling and letting this one leave despite being faulty.

Assuming that it was damaged when it left the factory as opposed to being damaged in shipping or at the AD.

ok, few explanation for that type of ploblems:

1. Self winding watches are for active people. If you stay all the day in front
of a computer or make a job where you don't move a lot, the oscillating weight
is not gonna wind the spring barrel.

2. If you or the Breitling dealer, dropped the watch on the floor ( you can easely see
it with what we call an "airchock", dent on the watch), the oscillating weight axle
or the reversing wheel can be broken.

Let's make an exercice:

- Take your watch fully winded and put it on your desk. Write the time and the date.
When it has stopped, calculate the power reserve. If it is less that 42hours, there is
a problem with the "time mechanism".( nothing to do with selfwinding)

- Then take your watch, shake it (not to hard), and put it against your hear. You gonna feel
and hear the oscillating weight turning hard..wait until it stopped and you gonna notice that in it last movement there's gonna be a clickclickclickclick. (chronograph 7750)
If nothing is happening, nothing is turning, you have the problem written above.

- If it is working, leave your watch until it has no more power until it stops, take your watch put it on your winding system, let it turn for ap. 6 hours, and then same thing leave it on your desk write the time etc etc etc .

If you have problems give it to an AUTHORIZED AFTER SALE SERVICE and we will take care of it.

For the little comment about Rolex let me explain it. Breitling and Rolex have 2 different type of self winding watch. One type has a double reversing wheel so the oscillating weight will be able to wind left and right and the other type has only one reversing wheel, so logicaly you gonna tell that it winds only in one way: Yes.
For chronographs, the mechanism is limited in space and it is headache to put two reversing wheel. Anyway, chronographs are made for active people (basically).

Sorry for my bad English and don't hesitate to ask me more.

K.
