Post subject:  Steel or Two Tone (Rose Gold)

Hello, I am finally about to purchase my first real timepiece and I've chosen to go with the Montbrilliant Legende. However I cannot decide which I like more the Stainless w/ Bronze Face or the 2-tone with the Bronze Face.

Please, your thoughts or comments are appreciated. Is the gold too "flashy?" Is the steel perceived better in the professional world? I've had friends tell me that the gold is too much and more for the older crowd (I'm 33) however I expect to have this watch until I pass it onto my son. I am looking for honest opinions, please help. :lingsrock:

I really don't think the two tone is over the top, or has anything to do with how old you are or the crowd you're in. It straight up comes down to $. If I had the money I would totally go for the two tone. One, it retains it's value and two it looks stunning. I think a solid gold watch is a bit over the top, but again that's because of the cost factor.... not because of the way it looks. Solid gold bentley motors.. if you've ever seen one is money. It's very blingy, because you are after all wearing 40k on your wrist. It has nothing to do with age. If you like the two tone and you have the coin to spend on it then I say GO FOR IT! The monti legende two tone is going to be a beast. We don't see a lot of them, so when you get it be sure to post pics!

I disagree in the sense that I think models with gold tend to lose more value on resale than fully SS counterparts.

I find two tone to bit a bit 'mature' (im 27), but full gold to be universally awesome.

Well I'll admit to being slightly biased (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3828), but I think that the TT Havana Legende is an incredible piece. I bought mine when I was 36 and it looks very good. I don't really care what the resale value is like, it won't be leaving so why worry, and I got a very good price.

To me the gold with the havana dial is just 'right'.

you're right rjrj...
you do take a hit on resale of two tone I guess, along with diamond bezel but on the other hand the original poster said he plans to pass this along to his son one day.... so aesthetics alone I think the two tone looks great.
