Okay, so I've been lurking on these boards forever and I've finally decided to post. I'm in. I'm sold. I'm convinced. I want one.

But I don't just want one -- I want many -- and therein lies my question, which I will get to after a short backstory.

I originally was convinced that I wanted a SuperOcean with the coral dial. Well, I went and tried it on. I love it, but it's a bit too bright for me for every day wear. I would love to own it and would wear it regualrly, just not every single day. I would also want another more understated model. So I tried on a Chrono Super Ocean (white dial, blue subs) and loved it! So now I want both. Of course, that's a decent jump in price, so I didn't buy it on the spot. I wanted to take a little time to make sure it's what I really wanted. I went back through the Chronolog, decided I wanted to try on a Chronomat Evo (black face, white subs) and...you guessed it... I loved it! In fact, it's my favorite.

So now I want three watches. How do I decide which one to buy first? Do I buy the most expensive one so the others feel like a bargain. Does buying one or the other give more more negotiating room with the AD on the second and third purchases? Do I buy the one I think I will wear the most and then fill in the collection? Do I shop the second hand market for one or more of them since I know they won't get as much wrist time? I'm just looking for a little planning help on where to start. How did you guys decide which one to buy first, second, third...etc?

As an aside: Thank-you. This board has been a great source of information and entertainment over the past year.

Welcome to the forums.. Those are great choices. I would start with a Chronomat Evo, because you'll find that if you buy the Evo last, you'll probably end up neglecting the cheaper ones... and may in fact not even wear the CSO. The SuperOcean on Coral dial is different enough that you might on occassion, however.

At least this is how I find it.. I find that I really tend to not wear the less nice ones if I have several that are similar. So i sell

I would definitely start out on the lower end. If you start out on the high end I don't think you'd ever really appreciate the watches. Start at the bottom (remembering the bottom of the Breitling line is pretty darn great!), and work your way up. That way you can really learn to appreciate them as you climb the ladder.

That's a really good point. When I first started collecting Lings I could not afford to buy too many. It was long periods between purchases. I got to appreciate the ones I got as I slowly climbed the Ling Ladder.

However, if i were now given a Chrono SuperOcean, it would be neat to wear it for a day or two and feel it and experience it, however, I would not want to keep it since it would get no wrist time... but that's just me!
