I just sold my Steelfish to a gentleman from another country, and he recieved the watch and box in prime condition, but the papers are missing. Odd as it is usualy the watch that gets stolen or the box damaged but never the papers that are missing. Not that I dont believe the guy, on the contrary he seems like a top notch guy its just weird.

Anyway, I offered to refund him or pay for replacing his papers, and he chose the latter. Thing is his AD refused to order papers for him and mine says I have to have the watch physically there for him to order papers for me.

Any experience in this area? I need to get this issue resolved ASAP as I had the guy waiting for a while.

I didn't think you could replace papers?

AFAIK it's impossible to replace the warranty, although given the circumstances I don't see why Breitling can't cancel the original and reissue a warranty for the remaining period.

The COSC certificate can be reordered - about $50 from memory, but Breitling will only order it when they have the watch in hand - some regions it has to be sent away, but I think most just require an AD verification.

Manual should be easy with ADs having spares.

:yeahthat on all counts, although here in the UK Breitling will only reissue a COSC when they have the watch physically there at the service centre. Basically with the quality of some fakes nowadays they don't like to rely on an AD giving it the once over. They need to pop the back and check EVERYTHING before they will issue the cert. The replacement COSC cert here in the UK is £35.

Thank you for confirming guys.

For a 1400 USD Steelfish, how much would you say is a fair compensation for lost papers?

Well at that price I am assuming that there's no warranty left, so $75 - $100 would more than cover the cost of a replacement COSC and inconvenience.

Yup, no waranty and I undervalued the watch when I sold it.

Thanks Roff, I will contact the buyer and offer him eith a chance to reverse the sale or keep the watch plus 100USD.
