I'm curious about your experiences with an older Aerospace model, this one to be specific, the "Repetition Minutes":

I'm thinking about picking one up sometime in the future, as a kind of "everyday watch" (I wouldn't dare or want to say "beater" in case of a Ling. :wink: ) but well before I pull the trigger, I want to do some research, and would appreciate your thoughts, comments, experiences.

I like the all Ti version, for some reason I find the gold rider tabs very odd on a tool watch like that. That's just me, no offense to anyone having that configuration. :lingsrock:

How does this watch relate to the previous and later Aerospace models in terms of price, finish, accuracy, reliability, etc.?

I've read about the "Aerospace floating minute hand problem" on another forum's Breitling FAQ section, I'm wondering if any one of you have experienced that on your own watches?

Are there any significant accuracy difference between the non-cosc and cosc versions of the movement?

Are they common on eBay and similar sites? (This type I haven't seen too many personally, most ones up for sale are older bi-color versions). What are we talkin' price-wise?

I have a Repetition Minutes purchased in December 1999. The watch is a "F65362" so it is COSC. However it is not a superquartz. I do have the dressy version with gold rider tabs and gold band inserts. The watch has all the functions of the present day Aerospace, but the display is not as bright and the alarm is not very loud. I think they have improved those features over time.

I used it for everyday wear for 3 years, but had a problem with the digital display material. It blurred and the watch could not control the format of the material meaning the digital information was pretty useless. I could read partial dates and minutes, but over time it got worse. I believe I provided too much shock to the dial by playing golf with the watch. Even though the digital part lost its use, the analog time was kept accurately. MY minute hand does not float.

I had the digital screens replaced and the watch runs perfectly. A complete service with new crown, digital plates, general service, and polishing which made it look like a new watch did cost about $400 from a approved Breitling service center in Houston.

I have seen a few for sale over the last couple years. It seems they go for $800 to $1100 US Dollars depending on condition and band. Mine is not for sale, seems like a great watch for the prices I cited above.

Do you think that the digital display is a kind of "Achilles heel" on this watch, or did you give it some really hard shocks? I mean I don't play golf, but would certainly be unhappy if a problem like that came about after only 3 years of regular, daily use.

Horgerg,

I probably gave it some hard shocks while taking divots. I would not pound nails with the hand wearing the watch, but I do not think it is super fragile. I have only seen one other instance of this problem on the boards.

Don't worry about that, I had a few of them in the last 15y and they were the most comfortable and dependable watches I ever owned. This ruggability was one of the decision points to get an Emergency. Now that is one I'll never sell :lol:
