I'm thinking about buying a Breitling from an online store. This store specifically states it's not an AD. However it's registered with the BBB and has no complaints on the internet or on the BBB that I could find. Anyone here ever buy a Breitling online, and from where? What was your experience? Going the online route would save me about $600. I know the internet option is generally frowned upon, but just looking to see if anyone else has had a good experience.

Thanks.

Hello murray32 and welcome to the forum.

You'll find my experience and a lot of other's too in the feedback section of the forum. I have bought a Breitling on the internet, through Authenticwatches.com. I wouldn't do that again... The watch is authentic, less expensive than at an AD (or in Europe...) and working brilliantly. However, Authenticwatches isn't the best place to shop if you're not living in the US/Canada region due to customer relations.

A word of caution, many will not come with papers as Breitlling does not authorize sales through the internet. those that have papers will be pre owned. Which there is nothing worng with as long as you know what you are getting. I would suggest that you consider working with a local authorized dealer. i have done so for all my watcfhes and have cultivated a relationship with them that has me getting a discount that brings thr price down to the prices i see on the web. With the additional benefit of having ALL the papers and authorized service. Which Breitling is famous for.
Good Luck

Even if you are saving a few hundred bucks by buying on the internet, there are still no guarantees. If you can pay cash for the Breitling, you can probably still get a discount. The pay-by-cash discount will probably be better than paying by credit card, as happened to me a couple of times, as the AD has to pay a commission to the cc company. I have bought 2 watches at the AD now, a Breitling and a Raymond Weil. Every time I go in there I get absolutely superb service, even if I just go to look they always let me try any watch. I would go with the AD any time even if for no other reason than service alone. I agree 600.00 is a lot of money, but when you are paying many thousands of dollars the peace of mind is worth it.
Cheers,
Carl

My advice to anyone wanting a good deal from an AD is to call around. They are listed on Breitling.com and if you order one from out of state you avoid sales tax. The only downside that I see is not being able to try it on before you buy, but that can be negated by visiting your nearest AD and trying them there. My local AD wouldn't come off the MSRP more than 10%, so I ordered by phone from another dealer. I don't feel bad about doing that because the difference was a lot of money. I actually got it cheaper than some internet dealers. I'm not out to make it hard for a dealer to turn a profit, that's the American Way, but some have more overhead due to having fancy stores and greater hidden costs. That's all been discussed in other threads here and on other forums, so I won't go into detail. But as consumers it's our right to shop for the best deal, and let's face it, Breitlings are not cheap. Well, not for me anyway, so I have to spend my discretionary income carefully. Hey, a guy's got to have hobbies doesn't he? And I've got more than my share!

Thanks for all the great advice, both here and via PM. I ended up going to the Breitling website and contacted about 30 ADs all over the country. I was looking for the Superocean Steelfish with metal band and black dial. It must be a popular watch because most stores are sold out. Those that were were selling at retail or slightly below. I found a dealer in Maryland who has the watch and gave me great service and a great price. Plus I didn't have to pay sales tax. Contact me via PM if you want his contact info and more details.

Thanks.

My internet purchase came with papers, and serial numbers intact.

I have a write up in the feedback section.
