Something I read in the sales section made me think: What is Breitling's obligation if when you send in your watch for service they polish off the serial number? Should they replace the caseback? Should they restamp it? Is there another way for them to tell which watch goes with which warranty certification? Do they have no obligation? And finally how much polishing does it take to remove the serial numbers? Material dependent I'm sure, but let's stay stainless or gold. |

I dont know if its their obligation, but ive read that they are able to redo the serial if it comes off (assuming there is still some trace of it). |

Well.....BUK have almost polished off the date stamp between the lugs on my Navitimer! You can 'just' make it out using a loupe...but it is nowhere near as clear as it was. Thankfully the S/N is untouched. |

I think those laser-etched S/Ns are dangerously easy to polish off. To be honest I would prefer if the S/Ns were still engraved on the casebacks. ![]() |

On My Seawolf - the S/N is barely able to be seen - it's one of those that have been etched on to the Ti case back - however, I got to believe that Breitling has got to have the serial number placed somewhere inside of the case as well - for the protection of all parties concerned.
