I recently purchased a Navi with the caliber 23 movement. I know that there is no quickset date feature, but I am finding it pretty annoying to change the since I don't wear the watch very often. Is there an easier way to change the date other than cycling through the whole day through the crown? Thanks |

Turn the time forward past midnight until the date changes. Then wind it backwards to around 8 oclock. Then go forward again to midnight and the date should change again. Its still annoying, but its way faster than going through 24 hour revolutions. |

Hi All ! No - I am under the belief that you're not supposed to go back on any watch for more than an hour and if at all possible never go back - period! Due to the fact that in going back you may strip the gears! If I am wrong then please someone correct me on this matter! I look forward to your responses! Best Regards, Enezdez |

Best Regards, Enezdez You are right.......... In watches with a quick set date function (and to be truly technical, in a watch with a quick set date that doesn't have an instant change function). Calibres like the B23 are designed to be wound back and forth around midnight to change the date as they have no quick set function. No risk of stripping gears. |

The owner's guide for a Navitimer tells you to set the date by using the "back and forth" method. |

Well.... It depends on the motion works of the movement. Certainly the hands on the Navi can be moved back and forth to change the date. It even says so in the instructions. Basic time only movements, sure. However, there are some movements where moving the hands backward can result in repairs that can cost $1,000 or more. For example, repeaters should never have the hands moved CCW even a little bit. So, my thoughts are if you are not sure don't do it until you ask or find the instructions. |

Yes sorry, I should have been more precise. In Breitlings the non quick set date movements are all fine to wind backwards, but that doesn't mean that all watches without quick set dates can be wound backwards without concern. |

If you have dropped a couple of hundred grand on a minute repeater it won't seem silly

Hi I actually went to breitling service center in hongkong before and asked about adjusting the navitimer date. even the technician showed me how to turn it over midnight then wind it back to 8 oclock then go forward again. I asked him that aren't we suppose to not back-wind the watch? he said don't worry about it with the retro version navitimer, there's no problem doing that. |
