I just recently purchased a Breitling Super-Ocean Chronograph. I work a construction job and can not use it daily without seriously damaging it. At the most I can only use it on the weekends. Which would provide the longest life and best peformance with low maintenance intervals? Is it best to keep it wound and running all week long as well as the weekends or just wind it when it's used on the weekend? My thoughts are that if I'm not using it why keep it running? Would the internal mechanisms suffer more from a lack of use or too much use? What do you think? SD16 |

The oils aren't going to break down if it's only used on weekends, so there's definitely no issues with only winding it on weekends, but I personally keep mine running when not worn. The watch isn't going to 'wear out' - it will likely need servicing more frequenty, but bear in mind that the design is for 5 years between service intervals anyway - and that's constant use. You may extend that slightly by not running it all the time, but the oils will still age and breakdown, so you won't get much longer. Additionally, winding and setting it every time would annoy me no end. |

I keep mine on my desk at home, so if im on the computer i might give them 10-20 winds once a day or a full wind every 2 days wen it crosses my mind. Like Roff, resetting the time constantly would annoy me to no end. The navi is easy to wind since the crown doesnt need to be pulled out so I can grab and wind. The screwdowns are a bit more annoying, but no big deal. |

Being a Firefighter I too don't have the luxury of being able to wear my Breitlings every day. I keep them on winders so that they are always ready to wear. Sometimes after a hard day its nice to be able to go out for a while and having a ready to wear Breitling makes it feel better. |
