Post subject:  Please help with purchase

Hi everyone hopefully someone can help. A local jeweler ordered me a Breitling Colt GMT from inter watches.com for a better price than I can get it for. It came today but I didnt purchase it yet because it looks like the warranty card has Phillipines as the country where its stamped (punched) cant remember the dealer name. What should I look for. I never purchased a Breitling so Im not sure what to look for. Please help so I can purchase this. Chuck

Interwatches is not an authorised Breitling deaker. They buy watches from ADs and sell them for profit - it's called grey market. You are very lucky to find a grey market watch with a warranty card and as long as the serial number is intact on the watch and the serials on watch, warranty and COSC match then you have no problems - Interwatches don't sell fakes.

There is a possibility that the watch has been refurbished - some grey market watches are warranty returns. You can check when the watch was made by having the jeweller remove the strap / bracelet from the 6 o'clock lugs. There is a date code there - the first four digits that you see are the week and year of manufacture.

And of course - welcome to BreitlingSource.

Thanks for the response. It does look new. Still has plasic on the strap and plastic cover that goes over the face, not that doesnt mean its still a fake. Could it be possible that the watch was purchased from an AD in the Phillipines? Is the warranty card the card im talking about where it shows the date purchased with the cutout stamp of the country and jeweler? It looks good just was caught off guard with the phillipines. Inter watches does not sell fakes? Thanks, Chuck

I guartantee that's exactly what Interwatches did - found an Asian AD to sell them watches. Asia is the source of the majority of grey market watches and if Breitling finds out they will fire the AD.

The watch is real, as I said Interwatches don't sell fakes, but you can always post pictures here for confirmation. The plastic means nothing - it could still be years old, I would check the date. Well actually, I wouldn't buy grey market, but others have had success and if you have the warranty it doesn't matter where it's from. You can always check on www.breitling.com that the dealer is on the list.

Thanks. I cant post pictures yet since I didnt buy the watch yet. I had planned on getting it yesterday until I saw Phillipines stamped on it. Scared me a bit until I checked into it a little further so I cant take pics yet. When I go back on Monday I will have the jeweler take off the band to check the date. Also is this why the warranty card has been filled out already with the purchase date? Because the Asian AD sold it to Inter Watches? Sounds about right? Thanks again for all your help. Being a new customer of Breitling I appreciate you guys taking the time to help me. So another step to take Monday will be to make sure all numbers match, the date code on the watch and the dealer in the Phillipines to see if they are an AD? I already pulled up the List of AD's in the Phillipines in hopes they match up. My biggest question is if all matches and the Phillipines AD is legit should I be ok? Also is there a special code for the date on the watch or Will I know by looking at it?

The dealer sold the watch to InterWatches and completed the warranty so that there paperwork made it look like a legit sale - you cvan be sure they didn't record the buyers as InterWatches.com as well!!

Usually the grey market dealers keep the warranty paperwork to protect the AD - trust me there are people from Breitling who will read this thread and hope that you post the name of the AD!!!!!

I'm sure you got the legit watch and warranty.
My warranty from Interwatches is from South America and there's nothing wrong with it.

Ok If I do in fact buy this watch and post the AD from the Phillipines will I end up getting screwed as well? So if the warranty card was filled out to someone to make it look legit and I buy the watch do I still get the remainder of the warranty? I guess inter watches claims 2 years with them. Im very sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure Im good.

If you find the AD from your warranty here, http://www.breitling.com/en/retailers/r ... nes_0-1767 it's perfectly legit.

No cap, just 2 years official warranty.

Thanks. I printed that out yesterday so when I go back to the jeweler I can hopefully match it up with a legit AD. Im just concerned who it is on the warranty card that the AD sold it to. Did they just make up a name? Do I still get 2 years from Breitling or Inter-Watches?

Post subject:  Re: Please help with purchase

It doesn't matter who originally bought the watch, if the AD from the warranty is/was a legit AD you have 2 years official Breitling warranty from the date of purchase.

Ok just a bit confused. If the AD sold it to Inter Watches originally with a different name since Im sure they didnt put inter watches down as the buyer that watch according to Breitling is owned by that person not me since Im not filling out the registration card etc. Right?
