At my AD the other day, I noticed they had a new Colt GMT with the integrated PRO bracelet. Not a bad looking piece, but the dial is not really much different than the previous model. The bezel is somewhat like the new B01. The movement is exactly the same as the old model: 32.
What really blew me away, though, was the price: $3800.CAD. It seems to me that barely a year ago, the older model was around 2600.00. IMHO the changes that I saw were not that wonderful that it justifies that much of an increase. I suppose the Colt quartz and automatic will eventually get the same changes, though. It seems that for very little more, one could upgrade to the Windrider line and get a beautiful new Cockpit.
Just my observations, but have to say I was completely surprised by the price. I thought maybe around 3 grand at the most.
Cheers,
Carl

The Swiss watch industry clearly thinks that it is immune to the economy!

I think in Breitling's case they have spent the last few years working hard to expand the brand's appeal and they are now starting to adjust pricing to manage demand closer to supply - something they can afford with a bigger interest / potential customer base. I guess you can't blame them for trying to make money, but the timing is odd.

I agree with you that at this price point it makes other watches seem more reasonable, but I guess there is also an element of the new watch premium.

:yeahthat PLUS I don't think the integrated bracelet looks that good either. Way too Tag-like for my liking.

Maybe I sound old-fashioned again, but I'd clearly prefer the older model, even if they both had the same price.

1. What's the point of an integrated bracelet, anyway? Means fewer options, no?

2. That bezel, again. :poke: I hope sooner or later Breitling will realize that rider tabs are COOL.

:yeahthat all of the above

I agree with all you guys say. I think the older Colt models look great! And that bezel not only looks good, very unique to Breitling, it protects the crystal and case very well. The new GMT looks almost to me like they are trying to imitate the Omega Constellation, and not doing a very good job. I took a close look at Ian's new Connie (the high end quartz), and it is really a very beautiful looking watch. Anyway, I wish Breitling would concentrate on their new inhouse movement(s) and stop messing up the aesthetics! Although I have to admit I love what they did with the Seawolf, there is an example to the contrary.
Cheers,
Carl
