Howdy Folks! Trying to track down other 9/11 edition owners...mainly to see if you may be having any of the same troubles with the watch as I am. Currently it on its way back to Wilton as we speak... for the 3rd time. MapleMe |

Are you talking about the CA with the American Flag on the dial? If so, I own one and have only had to have it serviced (for general purposes, not because anything was wrong with it...). Also, and Roff or someone else, correct me if I am wrong on this, but this piece was not actually done as an homage to the horrible 9/11 events. It simply was in the pipeline for production and happened to be released after the attacks. Hence, the right Breitling at the right time, so to speak, but not to honor those killed. I have heard (and read) this tale many times, and I thought we chatted about this (and cleared it up) some time ago, but I cannot seem to find the discussion to refer to.... -jbbb |

Sorry missed this one. Both jbbb and swiss1 are correct. There is nothing mechanically unique about the watch, other than the fact that the movement is relatively uncommon as it's not used much. What problems are you having? |

Ahh, Thanks for the info. Im disappointed to hear about the 9/11 myth story since it was billed as such to a number of us involved with the 9/11 response. Damn, that gets me. In terms of probs, first 6 months were fine, but have had condensation on 2 occasions and it was back to the shop each time. About a year apart. Saw it very minimally recently and a few days ago I was pulling out the knob to adjust the time and the thing pulled entirely out in my hand. Never had that happen, and not sure if its a correlation to the foggyness I started to see again. In any event, its enrout to Wilton again. |

PS this is a daily use watch for me... and since Im in "the business", I get compliments weekly on the thing. Especially when I tell folks about the 9/11 commemorative connection...which turns out to be the fact I have been lying to everyone for 7 year. DOH! |

Listen, honestly, you were not lying at all. In fact, you were telling the "truth" as it had been told to you. Not to be too metaphysical, it's just one of the minor myths that sprung up around that horrible time. In any event, you state that you are "in the business". Does this mean you are "wet" a lot? (firefighter, etc.) If that is the case, might I suggest that you check your crown every day? Make sure it is locked in place. I know, I know, but sometimes moisture can wick inside due to a poor seal, or the crown not screwed in properly, etc. I hope that is all that is. As for the crown and stem coming out, I've had that happen twice on two of my other B's (over the past twenty years of collecting), and it appears to be par for the course at times. Anyway, best of luck. I'm sure the good people of Wilton (my neighbors, in fact) will do their best! |

Hi, i have a couple of these a few years ago ( the ca 69 version ), the combined mech. was expensive to service over here ( the uk ), but then everything is, the price came up as being the same as a full mech. movement, the crown coming out on these is quite common, i've seen a few with the middle RAT. button missing too. Its a beautiful watch though, very nice, the fully mechanical one is amazing but only 25 were produced and it cost the same as a car! |

Agree with everything that jbb and swiss1 have said. It's possible that there was an inherent manufacturing flaw in the crown sleeve / stem / etc that led to the moisture problems and have now resulted in a failure of the part. The LE of 25 that swiss1 mentions is a very nice watch - the gold bezel also adds to the price. If one did come up for sale then there could be an 'interesting' battle between Driver8 and I for it - we both want one very badly. |

I appreciate the feedback. I work in Homeland Security- behind the desk 90% of the time so its not in heat/wet ever. Its always off when I shower. Oh well, Its helpful to know the history on this. I hope the watch comes back in the next couple of weeks. I feel strange using my Gshock. J |

In terms of return, I believe that BUSA may be on August holiday/shut-down. Chalk it up to Breitling being a Swiss company, and the European practice of August vacations. |

Don't know about BUSA, but Breitling Switzerland ended their summer vacation last Monday, August 17th. |
