does anyone happen to know why breitling still paints on the logos to some of its models rather than just using the much, much better applied wings? the only thing holding me back on the skyland right now is the painted wings. i'm going to swing by the ad again today to have another look, but i think that might be a dealbreaker for me.

I suppose they think the aplied logo is not suitible for some of the busier and rugged models, it is a shame as I just love the aplied logo.

I wish they made all their models with a silver aplied logo, I am not a fan of yellow marking/ gold on my watches either.

There are 3 reasons:

1. The applied logo can be loosend by rough handling, block the hands and damage the movement.

2. It can be a spacing problem (either on the display side of the dial or on the back)

3. Its a price question. You will not believe it, but there is a difference of at least 5 Euros in production.... (Now, You know, what it means to be Swiss!)

Thomas,

Thanks for the always helpful reply. I considered the spacing problem, but not the applied logo being knocked off or the pricing. 5 euros doesn't seem like it accounts for that much of the COGM on a watch that MSRPs at $3,000+ , but what do i know. as for the rough handling, than why would is the logo applied on the SA? isn't it in the same aeromarine line? i would think the SA and the skyland are basically made for the same type of wear, no? i stopped by my ad today, and they only had the blacksteel version. i'm definitely going to go with the SS if i do decide on a skyland or i'm going to opt for the legende. and, fyi, i'm still thinking about that GO PML that you have in stock. god, that is such a beautiful watch, but i can't commit without seeing one on my wrist first. i wonder if there is an ad in shanghai i could stop by. anyone know any good places to visit in shanghai? i'm making a weekend trip there either this month or next.

by the way 5 Euro is only an approximate price, not the exact one.

Yeah.. I love the applied logos too, but at the same time, I do kind of like the painted logos on the Navitimers. I think it matches the style of the watch... I kind of like the painted logos on the CA, and the Skyland too.. they are rugged looking watches, more so the CA than the Skyland... i definately like the painted look on the CA though. But for hte most part, I like applied logos.

I could not agree more. If there was one thing I could change about my Syland that would be it. I don’t really understand because there are a few models in the Aeromarine group and it has just as much space as the Chronomat.

Agreed.

I like the applied logos, but spacing on some models is tight enough!

Guy's,

I like the applied logo's generally better than the others but I have to say that the wings on the Nav World look good the way they are. I especially like the HUGE applied wings on my Super Avenger though.

Pretty cool piece. Glashutte timepieces are very classy pieces.

I just stumbled across this in my daily surfing....
