On the 15th May, I handed to my AD, my cal. 23 Navitimer and Rolex Date for servicing at their respective service centres.

Now, I was expecting the vintage Rollie to take a while, but the Navi is still not back! So far, it has been with BUK for twice as long as they took to service my Navi Fighters.
The cal.23 was working fine with no major probs when it went in. So what is the holdup? Has anyone else had to wait 12 weeks or more for a service?

I've called the AD that many times chasing it up that I'm fed up of it now.

Have consumers reduced the amount of new watch purchases, preferring to service existing ones instead?

My Bentley is in for servicing as well. The AD told me to expect anywhere from 6-8 weeks. I asked him to be more specific and he said they are extremely busy and that it might even take longer.

I believe Breitling Switzerland (the dudes who supply all the parts) are on an extended vacation and will be returning some time in September.... Also, I think everyone goes on vacation and makes up excuses..........

BTW ROLEX SERVICE is the BEST, without a doubt.

I think that the service departments are getting busier, not so much because of the economy (though that may be part), but because Breitling has had tremendous sales growth since 2000 and those pieces are now needing servicing. It's not simply a case of hiring more staff, there is a shortage of quality watchmakers and new hires need to be approved by Breitling to work on their watches.

There is also the issue that Spartan mentioned of Breitling SA closing down for a few weeks in the summer so any special order parts or inventory refills will be delayed.

The record i had at BUK, was 8 MONTHS ! I sent in one of the limited ed. HUIT JOURS alarm clocks, i agreed what needed doing with them before hand, as it was an old L.E. , they said no prob, 8 months later they admitted defeat, it came back running badly , in it went again ! I have to say all my watches have come back great and in reasonable time. I was REALLY unhappy with how the clock went as it turned out the dial work they had promised to do could not be done. But again this i think is rare.

Hmmm... i guess i'll just have to sit tight and be patient then. When i get told "6-8 weeks" by the AD, i expect it to be within that timeframe.

It just bugs me as I am Navitimer-less and having withdrawal symptoms! I just hope that when I get it back, all will be ok.
