I picked up a little something this weekend and it seems Breitling has introduced a new style of box. The new outer box is wider but shorter than the old because the papers are now stored adjacent to the box and not under it. The bakelite is a good bit larger and the inner travel case is much larger. Below are some pics for your perusal. Detailed story of new acquisition with more appropriate pics to follow tomorrow (hopefully).

very nice comparison shots. My new SA had the newer style boxes. Love the fit-and-finish.

Hopefully the larger internal "travel case" part means that Breitling are going to continue making 44mm+ watches!

Come on Breitling, stick that lovely B01 in something BIG!!!! How about a Navi World case? Or maybe even call it a B01B and stick it in a full-size Bentley? Oh go on, you know you want to! I'd be prepared to spend several thousand of my hard-earned for something like that.

Either one would like great in that nice new box! :D

Hello Chop!

I just purchased my new Blackbird with the new Breitling box. I got the pilot's brushed SS braclet. Am I supposed to get a 'spare' link with my watch?

Thanks, Charles

Congrats on the new Blackbird! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine!

As for the bracelet, it comes as one piece and you would end up with a spare link or 2 only if you needed to resize the bracelet. For my 6.75" wrist I took out one link and moved the fine adjustment on the clasp in 2 places to have it fit me how I like (a little looser than most people prefer).

If you have a large wrist it's possible that you wouldn't need to remove any links and thus wouldn't have any spare links.

My new Airwolf came in the new style box and I love it. When I bought my Chrono Avenger a few years ago it came in a yellow leather box. As for spare links, I had some left over after the bracelet was re-sized but it didn't come with any extra and neither did my other Ling.

All links are attached to the bracelet when new.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking! (Well, white sub-dials for me actually, but pretty much exactly as you said).

I think the difference in box depends on the watch model. I just bought two 2009 models--my Airwolf came in the slightly smaller box that you mention, with the paperwork underneath, and my Chrono Evo came with the slightly larger box, with the front drop-flap and paperwork on the side.

I don't think that's the case. One member just posted pics of he new Colt GMT and it had the new style box. Maybe you just get whichever box the AD feels like giving you?

I agree. I bought mt Airwolf two days ago and it was in the new box but after reading the thread on how to tell when the watch was made it was week 17 of 2008. So I think it depends on when the watch was made. Unless they ship watches and boxes seperately.

Huh... well, I bought both 'Lings from the same dealer, within about 2 days of each other. Both 2009's. I'm curious... I should check to see when the watches were actually built.
