Hey guys,

I have a Breitling Bentley Motors. I am going on a trip to Las Vegas this next week and am wondering if I should lock up the Breitling in the hotel safe? or wear it around the pool?

Someone told me to avoid water with this watch but I don't know if they meant like deep sea diving or just in general.

Thanks

It will be fine. Watter resistance to 100m(by pressure testing) will be fine in a pool. I would not take it SCUBA though. Have fun! :lingsrock:

As BoneDoc says assuming it's on a bracelet and not leather.

Good point BR. Did not think of that. I usually leave mine on metal so that does not come to mind right away.

I read somewhere (here, probably) that Breitling says you should get the watch pressure-tested once per year to make sure the seals are working properly, if you intend to take it into water. Does anybody here do this?

I have worn my breitling bentley 6.75 in the pool about ten times so far. It is on the speed bracelet and haven't had any problems. My manual says not to use the pushers while the watch is wet. If yours has the chronograph (I think all bentley series does) I wouldn't use them either. Don't worry and have fun! :lingsrock:

I will be in vegas aug 3-6 i am taking my watches w me, when i was in the pool there a couple of weeks ago i left mine in the safe, and will prob do the same this time!!! Breitling owners who else will be there???

the reason they said to be cautious is that some people are afraid of the chlorine in the pools being harsh, if u do use it in the pool make sure you take a shower after w it on and really clean all the chlorine off!! Thats what the manual says and my AD said

If you dive frequently, especially in salt water then there is a danger of the gaskets breaking down. Breitling therefore recommend testing and if necessary replacing of gaskets. It's not an issue for recreational divers.

As others have said the Motors will be fine in the pool, BUT in my opinion why take the risk? After all it's an expensive watch and while it is water resistant, it's not a diver's watch, and I personally would be gutted if I caught it on the poolside or something, especially if I had another more appropriate watch to hand.

I personally don't think I have to use a watch to the limit of its abilities in order to feel that I'm getting my money's worth from it. I wear all my watches daily and I don't "baby them" in that respect, BUT I ALWAYS remove them for anything that could be potentially damaging - DIY, most sports, etc, etc. For something like swimming I use my Sinn UX as it is specifically designed for diving, as well as not being that expensive.

But then it's entirely up to you, and if you did decide to wear the Motors in the pool, it should hold up just fine.

Don't take the risk. You'll no doubt be taking plenty of other risks in the casinos while you're there.

Like I said earlier, why take the risk with such a  watch?

I use my ORIS DIVER when I go to pools which is usually everyday (I have one at my house)....

:nono: ...

Unless you have a need to show off the Bentley in a hotel pool then why even wear it? I would'nt wanna risk scuffing oit on the side of a pool or anything like that. Imagine if you do have an unfortunate incident then youll be kicking your self.

Funny, I have the same watch and will be in Vegas next week. While I know "stuntin" in Vegas is the cool thing to do, I personally am not taking any chances. Like others said, its too nice to let get banged up, or damaged by water.
