Some of you might have noticed that last week I was lucky to grab the white dial SA with batons off of Rich on the sales forum. I had him ship it to my brother-in-law in San Fran, who was coming to Canada to visit. He arrived last night and I was finally able to slap that bad ass watch on my wrist. The watch was great, exactly how Rich described it, and really had a great look to it, but sadly, it was just too damn big for me. I decided very quickly that it wasn't for me. If it was 45 or 46mm, maybe. The good news is that my bro-in-law is 6'3" tall and since he acted as my mule to get the watch to Canada, I felt it was only fair to offer it to him. It suited him and his stature perfectly, and he fell for it. So now it is going back to San Fran on his wrist.

Thus ends the SA experiment.

The Skyracer just seems like the perfect fit for my 7.2" wrists... or maybe some gawdawful M*A*S*H numbers on a Skyland? They're starting to grow on me. Hmmm.

Well, if your bro-in-law decides he doesn't want it, give me a shout. I'm local to him and I'm interested.

Sorry to hear about you deciding to let the SA go. I have 7" wrists and I wear the SA all the time. I think initially there is kind of a shock because it is so big but as you wear it more and more it starts to look as if it's a normal size. The watch is also very comfortable despite it's size. I have mine on a Pro I and I find that while the Pro I doesn't look as nice it is much more comfortable than the Pro II. I would have suggested keeping it and maybe putting on an ocean racer on instead... get rid of a little of the bling and lighten the watch. Either way, your brother is probably pretty happy that you wanted to let it go.

Comfortable indeed, I wore if to Costco shopping this morning as a "test drive" and the extra size/weight over my Skyracer or POC didn't bother me. I just felt that it looked too big on me, purely a visual personal preference kinda thing. On my BIL, it looked right. I'm not a rubber guy, I tend to try them on rubber and always go back to steel. And I agree the Pro 1 is my favorite style of bracelet too.

Like I said, the skyracer just workes for me, with the addition of the fantastic movement and unique texture, it really has become a favorite.

Hey Mark, with 7.2" wrists I'd have thought the SA would've been a fine fit for you, but I guess the most important thing is down to how comfortable you feel with it.

I remember when I first tried an SA years ago, I thought it was just way too big, but that was when I was wearing an Omega SMP on a daily basis and that was considered a large watch!

To be honest while I've been exclusively wearing the larger pieces for the last few years (46mm+), my 44mm Sinn is starting to "re-engage" me with the slightly smaller pieces as well. So much so in fact that I've found myself considering snaring a standard (i.e. 41.8mm) Navitimer! I'm certainly not going to stop loving the larger stuff, but it might be nice to have a couple of less grandly dimensioned pieces in the collection these days too.

Hope you don't lose out on the SA deal.

Mark,
Indeed, it takes some time to get used to the SA. I remember when I first got mine I had the same problem like you. After a week or so I just couldn't get the damn thing off of me; it had quickly become my favorite.

Then I got a chance to trade it for a Bentley and now... I love the Bentley and don't miss the SA anymore; I find the Bentleys much more comfortable and balanced on my 7.75" wrists.

On another note, my CE (43.7mm) feels kinda small as of late (because I wear the Bentley (48.7mm) and World (46mm) on a daily basis) and the only reason I haven't sold/traded it
yet is because the new B01 is the same "small" size....

I just got mine yesterday evening....it's a LOT to get used to.

It's always interesting from the time you're flopping them on your wrist at the store to when you get home, get it sized, and actually on your arm.

I'm no stranger to big watches, I've worn the Carlos Coste Chrono, Citizen EcoZilla, SOHC, POC, and the Bentley Motors. For me, and I stress this is just for me personally, I preferred the size and feel of the Skyracer, although I really like the look of the SA. I might try a dark dial SA some day to see how that looks.

I certainly didn't want to imply that it is too big for other people with similar sized wrists, we are all different and it comes down to what you like persoanlly and how you dress and carry yourself. For me, the SA finally hit my upper limit.

Like D8, I have been learning to appreciate smaller watches too. The classic Omega moonwatch has become a regular on my wrist and it is quite diminutive by Breitling standards.

I flipped the SA to my BIL for what I paid, heck, he's family. Pass on the good Karma. :D

I really, really like the Bentley GMT especially the white one. However trying it on, I found the end lugs hung over my wrist & generally looked a bit cartoonish for my liking. My airwolf tends to be an ideal diameter for my arm. Need to bulk up again maybe.
