Hi,

Im torn between Navitimer and Navitimer World.

First thought Navi because it looks beautiful, then world as it makes more of an impression.

Im used to 40mm watches as I have a rolex sub and daytona but 46mm on the world seems massive.

But then is the World a bit too chunky and a bit too bling / gangsta rapper?

Either would be steel case, black face, back leather strap.

Any suggestions please???

P.S Going to Goldsmiths at Gatwick ariport and seem to get 15% off. i.e. about £3k for the navitimer. Is that a good deal? Its only the VAT off. Do you think they would bring it down further?

Not a brilliant deal - you'll get 20% off at Andrew Michaels from Newark, Notts and in my experience Goldsmiths are not particularly keen on giving much away.

Go for the Navi World by the way !!

Dont even think about it, go for the World. The regular Navi is too small, for me at least.
As a matter of fact I wish the World would be a little bit bigger,
maybe +1mm thicker and +1mm larger.... :lingsrock:

You're going to have guys that like big watches tell you to get the Navi World, and guys that don't like big watches tell you to get the Navi.

Go to an AD, try on both, and see which one you like better. Otherwise, you'll end up with a watch that don't like.

:yeahthat But I personally like the dial combos available on the world a bit better. Also like the GMT. But like Kstone said, one will call you! :lingsrock:

:yeahthat. I too was torn, I tried both and felt the world was too big for me, but I did like the 6,9,12 dial configuration compared with the current navis 3,6,9. So I hunted down an 'old navi' and haven't looked back!

On a seperate note though I'm starting to wish I'd gone with the deployment clasp!

Well I personally like the "44mm and over" watches, so the World is always my choice anyway, butthe thing to remember is that the Navitimer is quite a "delicate" watch in terms of it's look. It's not got big chunky lugs or crown guards etc, so I personally find that a 41mm Navi wears MUCH smaller than it's nominal size would suggest. Likewise the World felt just right to me.

But as others have said, there's no substitute to trying a couple on. You'll soon know which is shouting "buy me!" at you.

Went to a well known watch chain on bond street earlier and tried both watches on.

Its hard to tell as they only had a white face world, not the black which I like.

I was quite taken by both.

Got an offer of £3800 for a black face world, black calfskin strap, deployment clasp. Sound about right?

Straps were really stiff too, do they loosen up a bit?

Cheers

Driver made a good point about the size of the navi's, they do wear slightly smaller than they are. Personally this is something I like, but if you've even considering something bigger, I think you'll probably end up with the world.

Yes, I've always found breitling straps break in nicely, depending how much you wear them it can take anything from just a few days to a couple of weeks.

There's a reason you see so few breitling watches with non-oem straps, its because they're so nice!

I'd choose the World as well, not just for the size but also because I vastly prefer the dial layout. Having the date at 4 or 5 o'clock is a deal-breaker for me. I do like the white sub-dials on the regular Navi though.

The strap will gain plenty of flexibility in a week or so, especially if you keep the watch in a watch box or winder and it's strapped onto a cushion.

In my opinion the Navitimer world is far from being anything close to "gangsta rapper". Nothing against rap and the hip hop culture but to me there is no similarity between the standard navitimer and world and the often "Blinged" out gangsta rapper style attire.

I agree with the others in that the best thing to do is try them both and make the decision based on what appeals to you most.

Hi Jerome,

The World for me, but then you have to try them both on and see which feels and looks the best on your wrist.

To me Goldsmiths is a bit, how shall I say soleless, with a more local AD you should expect a good level of service and
a bit more than just the Vat off.

Another point to consider is, can you return the watch to any branch of Goldsmiths for service or aftersales, some of the shops in Heathrow are not affiliated to the local high street shops, and if you do not live local it could be a distance to travel!

Have fun,

Ian.

i have a 6.75" wrist...the black navitimer wears smaller than its size, it's true. even the GMT ceramic feels bigger. the white navi world wears a little bigger than i'd like. if you like the "bigness" of the world, a black face might be the way to go. in my perfect world the world would be 45mm and around 14mm thick.

It would be the World for me and possibly the silver dial instead of the black that I own (although I love that too), but smaller Navitimer wise I would be tempted by the older Navitimer Olympus like the one Driver8 sold my colleague (damn I should have bought that for myself!!).

Ultimately what I think would look fantastic would be a black dial Navitimer World with silver subs!!
