In case you miss my answer on the other thread... Quote: how can they say 30m if I can't keep it on my wrist when I go swimming! You probably can go swimming in a pool for a short while but most people err on the side of caution. There's a good article on water resistance here http://www.zeno-watch.ch/en/ServiceOverview/WaterResistance/body_waterresistance.html Quote: WATER RESISTANT 30M (3 ATM/100 Feet) Protected in everyday life, bathing, accidental splashes, short swimming or car washing - it is resistant against perspiration, water vapor, rain drops. It is tested for water resistance up to 3 ATM, and must be able to survive 30 minutes under water at a depth of 1 m (3 feet) followed by 90 seconds under a pressure corresponding to 30 meters. Just be aware that the rating is for 3ATM pressure which equates to 100 feet. A big wave crashing down on you will probably exert well in excess of 3ATM. Hope this helps. |

Thanks Mr. Shark - i'll have a chat with the guys at the Breitling stand at RIAT and see what they think - seems to be conflicting opinions regarding the Emergency (Bear Grylls swimming and parachuting with it is one example) Great article though - thank you, Simon |
