Hey guys, long-term lurker here, first post. Hi to all, seems like a very friendly forum you have here.

I've been wanting to get my hands on a Breitling for some time now, and now I'm finally ready to pull the trigger. After much deliberation I think I'll be going for a Blackbird on SS. Not 100% decided between brushed or polished but leaning towards brushed. But the question now is where to buy?

I'm an Englishman living in Paris but will be over in New York for a week on business at the beginning of August, after which I'll be in London for a while. Now from everything I've read on these forums I'm guessing that NY would be the best place to buy as the discounts should be considerably higher. But never having been to NY before, and for that matter never having bought an expensive watch before, I'm not too sure where to go for the best price. I was hoping that perhaps you guys could either recommend or put me in touch with a good AD that could offer a good price? I'd also welcome any feedback on whether a better deal might be achievable in the UK (or even Paris)?

Very much looking forward to joining the Breitling-owners club! :D

Hi I,m English living in the south of France and from what I,ve gathered the NY deal will be the best way to go as long as you dont pay duty on your return to Paris, not certain just my opinion there are plenty of experts on here that can help I,m sure :lingsrock:

Welcome! Tough to go wrong with a BB, though I think I'm with you on brushed over polished, though both have their loyal fans.

I can't help you on a NY AD, but jnelson3097's contact - the famous George from Govberg can ship overnight, so may be able to assist even if you can't make the trip to him.

I can also give you a contact with a Canadian AD that will ship internationally (but not to the US), but you will have potential import duty / sales tax issues in France depending on what the rules are there.

George can help when you're in New York, I know he sold a watch to another member on here who is visiting the US and is having the watch shipped to his hotel.

From what I've noticed, you're best off buying in while in the states. Wear the watch on the plane to make sure nothing happens to it

Hi!

I highly recommend George @ Govberg. I just bought a watch from him, and he's going to overnight ship it to my hotel i'm staying at in San Francisco. He's a great guy and very helpful. Give him a call, that's my advice:)

So many helpful replies - thanks chaps. I'll definitely get in touch with the famous George. Hadn't (as of this morning) heard from Andrew Michaels but need to check personal emails this evening.

The only problem with buying by post is not getting to try the piece on first - think I might have to pop down to somewhere local to give it a try. I work in the 8éme so according to the Breitling website there should be plenty of ADs nearby.

And to asnpcwiz, there is precisely 0% chance I would allow a nice watch, brand new or otherwise, in the hold of a plane!
