Post subject:  Breitling Chrono Avenger ... Many pics of my first 'Ling
Today I joned the Breitling family. I have owned most brands and finally purchased my first Breitling from the TZ forums. I chose the CA with grey dial.

I'm not going to gush too much, as I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing newbies like myself go on and on about how great the watch is, especially since you already know that :wink:

Just some highlights, lowlights, and pics.

Highlights: The dial colour is exquisite. The grey dial has a subtle sheen that can not be seen on camera, and the sunburst subdials contrast beautifully with the matte grey of the dial. The dial looks like it was carved from the same Titanium as the case. The crystal is invisible, very cool and ledgible. Comfortable bracelet. Love the deep chapter ring, cool crown and pushers, and nice feel to the bezel action.

Lowlights: Clasp is not worthy of this level of watch. Functional yes, but tinny feeling and the divers extension looks like it came off a $50 watch. I have the same complaint with my Oris Carlos Coste Chrono and Fortis B-42 Cosmo Chrono. These companies should study the Japanese brands clasps or the new Doxa 5000T clasp. The size of the watch is a bit smaller than hoped. the bezel diameter is only 42mm. I expected 44mm, but that is the overall case dimension. The watch wears like a 42mm watch. Not enough lume for a 300m diver!

Overall, I'm very happy with my first 'ling. I can already feel myself yearning for something larger :shock:

You may certainly go on and on with the beauty of your watch - as you're saying, everyone here will completely understand and also appreciate your comments. We're all in the same addictive boat...

Your CA is beautiful, and the pics you've taken are really nice! May I ask what type of camera and settings you've used?

Hi everyone. Thanks for the welcome and kind words about my pics.

The camera used is a tiny little pocket sized Sony DSC-T100. We bought it for a trip to Italy and it is out of this world. The size of a deck of cards, but takes 8mp pics and has fantastic light gathering ability and image stabilization. I have an art studio and in it I use a pro-level Sony DSC-F828 for shooting artwork, but the 828 can not come close to the macro abilities and exposure metering of this little T100.

The shots were done on "auto" with the Macro plus setting on, no flash, auto focus. I used two desk lamps for light. Really nothing special here.

Beautiful watch, Mark! If you get the chance to handle the Professional II bracelet for the Chono Avenger I'm sure you'll find it much nicer than the Pro I that is on your CA right now :) Big difference in quality, though the Pro I is marginally more comfortable IMO.

Nice watch! If they made that in Yellow I would have got it instead of the Seawolf. Question though, how is it 42mm? Isn't it supposed to be a 44mm bezel? Where are you measuring from?

Enjoy your watch, if your somewhat like me you'll have another one well before you can afford to.

I measured using calipers, measuring the outer edge of the bezel, not includig the rider tabs, just the bezel ring itself. It is a hair over 42mm. I have a 44mm Fortis B-42 Cosmo Chrono, and it wears and looks larger.

PS: Are you measuring to the outside of the rider tabs on the bezel or excluding them?

Are you asking about CA vs. Fortis B-42? I sold the B-42 a couple days ago... nuff said? Great watch, but the CA and Oris Carlos Coste Chrono really overshadowed the Fortis, so away it went.

Between the CA and CSO, I'll have to wait until tuesday when I receive the CSO to answer that. :D

Post subject:  I have got one last weekend too! the greatest of the great!
i got black dial. i was not sure between black and grey. i like a little more contrast, but grey is very unique for this type. Since CA is diappearing from store, i found only a black, there was no struggling at all:D

CA is just my truly love. i don't feel anything else can replace it in my heart.

BTW, what do you guys think about Skyland? Why does Breitling make it in steel and charge $200 more? it doesn't seem to me CA was a big hit for breitling, it that true? the serial No. of the image showed on Breiling website is 2053727, it is about 148000 infront of mine. can we assume this much CA are made in the last model year?
