Hi guys, I have a Bentley Motors and now have a Skyracer. When I owned the motors only, I always thought the crown was missing some threads as it only unscrewed 1.25 turns before popping. Now my Skyracer is exactly the same... 1.25 turns. My SOHC is 1.5 turns, still not alot. Is this typical of the pilots models or Breitling in general?? I'm used to more turns on screw down crowns from other manufacturers. On a side note, all three watches display the "B" perfectly upright when the crown is seated. Is this intentional or am I just lucky? |

My "B" has never been upright when it is tightened all the way. That's major luck if al three are tightened all the way and the "B" is upright. |

Bentley's are very short on screw thread, Mark. I though the same when I got my first Bentley but the others are the same too. I've not owned a Windrider model for years now, and I've never owned a Professional model (other than a B1 for about 3 days and that doesn't have a screw-in crown anyway) so I can't comment on those models. The Aeromarine models definitely have a much longer screw-thread though due to the greater water resistance requirements. I would guess that as long as your Skyracer is a little longer on the thread than a Bentley it's totally normal. Oh and I think you're just lucky on the B being upright on the crown! |
