Seriously, there have been quite a few Breitlings I have seen posted on these forums where when I saw them in person was very disappointed. I tried on on the blackbird and it just didn't do anything for me. First I tried on the polished version at one AD and it was just ok. So I thought maybe the brushed version would like better, so I tried that one on at another spot and it was just ok also. Same with the SA's. I guess it's good to try on the watch before you buy one over the internet.

You mean you're not supposed to buy it first to determine if you like it? Damn, that's why my Breitling turnover ratio is so high! Seriously though, I've got no AD's in my area so I usually buy them over the internet and wear them a while before deciding if they're for me or not. It takes more than a first impression for me to find a keeper.

Biggest let down for me was the Avenger Skyland BlackSteel. Looked great in the pics but when I saw it in the AD, it did nothing for me.

SA. Tried one on, and realized that although I like it, I like it best on other peoples' wrists. Just too big for my twigs.

The Evo I had I liked at first, but it just wasn't for me after awhile so I sold it.

To date I've never been disappointed with any of the Breitlings I've gone to look at. Well not since the Pro2 bracelet was released anyway, and only since then have I been serious.

Only a week ago I looked at a Bell & Ross BR03. Always loved that square airplane instrument look. Big disappointment :( hands looked crap quality and the bezel feel was a joke. Either its plastic, or ratchets on plastic :? Either way the rotation felt awfull

Well, in general what I've found so far is that watches I'll see in ads and online will look interesting and nice, but then when I see them in person I'll sometimes be BLOWN AWAY by how great they are. That's how I ended up with my new Chronomat Evo. Indescribably beautiful in person.

But yes... I've thought that the new B-01's weren't too bad in pictures. In person I was fairly disappointed--still not too bad, (unless it's one of the color combinations that looks like JUNK) but really didn't do anything for me.

Never been disappointed with any Breitling I've bought, I've bought one and realised I should have gone for the other model! Hence my recent sale of my Cosmonaute to fund my SA BS.

I've been given an expensive Raymond Weil as a gift after passing comment that it looked nice in a magazine advert, only to find out in real life that it was a shocking piece of tat and not worth anywhere near its price!

I am with Sharkmouth. Although it was the SA BS that disappointed me. Went to the AD sure that I was going to buy it. Even had CASH to swing the best deal. Put it on, walked around for a few minutes, just did not like it (and I wear my SA daily) just seemed cheap - no slight against those who adore theirs, but it was certainly not for me. Too bad!

It's interesting how the Black Steels have that love/hate thing. Following on from my post above, when I took the Raymond Weil back I had a choice of a lot of different Breitlings and had narrowed it down to a Skyland Black Steel, a Navitimer, a Montbrillant Legend and a Navitimer World. I had all of these models out on the tray and I was constantly drawn to the Black Steel over all the others and so that's what I settled on and I loved it, until of course it developed a fault and I eventually exchanged it for a Navitimer World.

But I never lost that desire for the Black Steel and now I can't stop wearing my SA BS, I normally wear a different B each day, but this has been on my wrist for 4 days now...............................

If I buy a watch then I keep it (unless I specifically buy to sell) so I have to be very certain before I'll ever commit. SOmetimes it takes more than one visit, but never regretted anything yet.

The first time I saw a Blackbird it disappointed me a bit too. It just looked so much more dull than I was expeting. And the first time I saw a Chronomat Evo I was expecting it to be bigger than it was, so that disappointed me a little as well.

Conversely the B01 looked better than I thought it would. (But still not enough to make me want one).

I think some of the time the MASSIVE pictures in the Chronolog can make you expect something a little more impressive. That's why I really like the IWC catalogue as it shows the watches lifesize.
