Post subject: | Evolution Bezel Question-No Polish? |
Hi, I have question concerning the Evo bezel. I had the opportunity to compare the B01 and Evo side by side yesterday, and noticed that that Breitling have restored the 'hi polish' to the B01 bezel that was present in the Crosswind line. By comparison, the surface of the Evolution bezel seems to have an almost 'brushed' finish. Does anyone know if Breitling will polish out an Evo bezel such that it would be comparable to the Crosswind/B01 finish? You can see the difference here: http://www.swisswatchstore.co.uk/produc ... I didn't know you can buy those individual parts of the bezel. Anyway, I have never seen a polished bezel for the EVO, however I'm sure you can take it to a jeweler and have them polish it up. |

Huh... my Evo bezel seems to be polished. Or is that only the rose gold bezels? ![]() |

I have the Chronomat Evolution in black and ivory, romans, with the rose gold bezel. The bezel may be polished, but the Rose Gold on both watches speaks for itself quite nicely. I'm generally referring to the stainless and two-tone Evo models. The basis for comparision within the Windrider family would be the old Crosswinds, specifically the Crosswind Special LE two-tone. I have one of these and the bezel is polished to an extent that I can see my reflection, provided I concentrate to some degree. I cannot imagine purchasing an evo without the polished bezel as in my opinion it's the bezel that truly 'makes' the watch. I believe that the present Cockpit line has fully-polished bezels; the Blackbird certainly carries that option as does (rather glaringly) the B01. There are a couple of things I'm trying to get to the bottom of: 1) Is the finish on the blackbird/cockpit/B01 bezel simply a matter of polishing a piece of stainless steel, or are the bezels coated with some sort of compound and then polished? This is significant because should I have to turn to a jeweler, I would want to make sure the jeweler could replicate the finish; 2) Will Breitling do this in-house or would something like this be considered 'out of specification', which I know Breitling hates to do? The folks at Timezone seem to think jeweler is going to be my only option. There's also the question of whether polishing the bezel aftermarket would violate the warranty. |

The bezel on my headwind was a brushed finish originally, I had it polished up whilst in AD in Dubai for about £30.00 and in my opinion improved it 100%. It has since been back to Breitling UK for a service and also had the dial colour changed and they did not revert it back to the brushed finish. I have contemplated doing the same to my SA but a Uk dealer didnt seem interested and to be honest a brushed finish may actually suit it.................... |

Would you have before and after pics? I am curious to see the results. I am thinking of purchasing the two-tone evo with the black face and romans and would get the bezel polished up. If that works well, I might consider doing the same for the stainless+black face+romans.....would bring it up to par with the Crosswind, which I liked a lot but was discontinued before I was making enough scratch to seriously consider purchasing. |

They jeweler will use a polishing compound. The compound is abrasive, so it will remove any brush marks and make it smooth. |
