I have a chronomat from 1990s. I took it to an authorized service center to be serviced, but they want to do a full restrotaion by replacing everyhting inside, and crown, and chronograph pushers, which is off course costly. I just want a basic service, without changing any parts or full restrotation. The watch runs about 5 minutes slow in 4-5 days. I usually set the watch 5 minutes ahead. This doesn't bother me as I don't wear it daily. Would you recommend any watchmaker or service center knowing 90s chronomats inside out, and not charging a few hundred dollars. I am in Boston. I could also ship the watch to the service center if no service centers in Boston. Thanks.

Well.......

If the watch is losing a minute a day then I doubt that it can be serviced without replacing at least some parts. At a minimum the watch will require complete disassembly of the movement, cleaning, oiling and reassembling. That's not going to be cheap and any wheels or springs that are needed as replacements will not be Breitling OEM unless you use Breitling service.

I am sure that there are many qualified watchmakers in Boston who can do it, but in terms of intimate knowledge of Breitlings and access to Breitling parts, Breitling themselves are the only option.

:yeahthat I agree with Roff!

Losing a minute a day means there is something wrong inside. If the watch is from the 1990's, and has not had regular service (or you don't know the service history), it is long overdue. I'm not sure what you mean by everything inside. Did they quote a new movement? If the current movement is beyond repair, then absolutely send it to BUSA. Your local watchmaker will not be able to get the movement from Breitling, and any other replacement (even though it works) will ruin the value of the watch.

I doubt that Breitling is trying to sell you parts you don't need. Since they warranty their service, they will replace worn parts that compromise the integrity of the case. It sounds like that is the reason for the crown and pushers.

Regular service will keep a watch running for a lifetime. I have a collection of railroad pocket watches that were mandated to be serviced at regular intervals. After 100 years, they still keep time to railroad standards.

If that's British Rail you're talking about, the timekeeping is way out.

No, not UK. Good old USA. :D Different railroads had different rules, but 30 seconds per week in 5 positions was pretty universal.

If i were you i would send it to BUSA and they will give you an estimate on the needed repairs, and then you can let them know how far to take the repairs.

I took my Emergency in for a service and they would not work on the watch until i gave them the OK,and it was a warranty repair!

I delt with Yessica and she was great!

Good Luck :D

I dealt with Yessica as well she handles the Northeast and I HIGHLY recommend BUSA!!

I will not have my watch touched by anyone else.
