Hi all,
I'm writing from Cloverdale BC CDN. I have been visiting my local AD trying on Super Avengers. I'm trying to cultivate a relationship, so when it comes time to buy we can work a deal. I read a lot about Govberg George, but wonder if the exchange on the CDN$, the shipping costs, duty, border taxes and insurance would mitigate against buying from him. Also I don't feel its good to buy elsewhere, then rely on the local AD for service. There are only 2 AD's in BC, the other in Vancouver, so perhaps a strategy is to see who has the best price of these two.
I welcome your thoughts
Thanks
jca

I can hook you up with an Ontario AD who had SAs in stock as of a week or so back. Saves you PST and will still give a reasonable discount. PM me if you are interested.

As a fellow CDN with an obsession for watches, I can say that it rarely makes financial sense to buy from a US dealer, because they normally will want to insure it for full value, and then ship with a big courier like UPS or Fedex. Once you pay the shipping, taxes, brokerage and duty, the advantage is usually erased, or so small that it isn't worth it anymore. It makes sense to buy from the uS on pre-owned goods, where the seller will ship by USPS and state a lower value.

Did you get a deal through Roffs contact? Thats probably your best bet if you are buying new.

Thanks for the info about US buying. I have not used Roff's contact. I'll post my buying experience after it happens

I know one member on here in Canada bought a SA from George, but ended up returning it since it would have cost him another $400 to recieve the watch. Last I heard, he ended up buying a Skyland in Canada.
