I'm thinking about adding some new forums to the board since it's getting busier and organizing it a bit and creating new forums to encourage new discussion is never a bad idea... seeing what you guys think of the idea of these new forums:

In the Breitling Forum:
Full Ling Forum (just for fun)
Breitling Reviews

General Watch Forum:
Watch Videos
Watch Reviews

Any other suggestions?

Admin,

The list you provided seems pretty thorough but I think that maybe a public service forum to help guys with DEGRADED lings like I suggested before may be helpful.

This whole full ling / 3/4 ling / 1/2 ling / degraded ling is starting to wear on me a little bit - maybe I'm just a boring old geezer

I do think it makes sense to split reviews / model specific questions from more generic Breitling stuff, and maybe similarly on the general watch forums - brands vs. generic makes a little more sense to me than a video specific forum as we don't seem to get that many.

Other common themes that seem to come up:

Maintenance
Dealers / events / marketing
New models / future direction

The full ling thing won't wear on you if you don't take it seriously. :)

Splitting it into model specific might be premature, I dont think there is enough discussion yet to talk about individual lines.. perhaps a section on Breitling Watches and a section on Breitlign Watch Movements?

I didn't want to create other brand forums mostly because its a Breitling forum, and having a Rolex, OMega, Panerai forums within this forum is a bit strange, IMO...

The addition of a video section i thought would encourage posting of watch videos and may generate discussion and stuff.. .would also be a good place so that people can find videos they seen before and refer to them again.

Dealer events and stuff might be a good one.. would likely be a quiet forum too.. more of a news thing. Maybe I could create a New forum for posting news.. but that's what I use my blog for. *sigh*.. maybe i won't do anything.

Its all in good fun, besides this forum needs a little action :)

We need a general hobbies/passions/finer things in life forum. Maybe a fun/joke corner for those so inclined like other boards.

Sorry - don't think my original post was clear - I didn't mean to imply a forum for Navitimer vs. Windrider vs. Professional etc, I meant Breitling - model specific vs. Breitling general.

Similarly, on the General watch discussion I was thinking a forum for specific watches / brands vs. a forum for generic. For example the recent topic on Kobold would go in the brand specific area, the one on top 10 watches would go in the general side.

As far as full ling etc - ignore me - I think I'm just getting old  - just seems like every other topic has been about it the last couple of days :?

A whole new forum? Meaning a new site?

I don't think any additional forum or forums would be needed.

Just start a new category in the Breitling discussion. That should be sufficient in my opinion.

How about some smileys that are Breitling and forum specific? Like one with a ling on it's wrist? I'm sure others here could come up with a few ideas.

We don't have to have a full ling forum, but adding one would keep the full ling discussion mostly out of the main forum :)

I have an idea.. what about this.. Split the main Breitling discussion forum into 2 forums.. one General Breitling .. and one Breitling Help Forum for when people need help with breitling watches? Possibly a third for Breitling Movements. I think the model specific idea would work, but the distinction is difficult to express I think.. what do you think?

That was kind of the point I was trying to make - just didn't do a good job

A lot of the people who visit this site for the first time do not know too much about Breitling watches and are trying to find as much info as possible. I know this, because I was one of those people.

Keeping in mind - that 1st timers will want model specific information, I suggest the following.

1. Keep the general forum, where we can all have a laugh and banter with each other.

2. Create seperate forums for each of the various series of Breitling watches for people who are looking for specific information, rather then have them wade through heaps of information looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. So you would have a seperate forum for
- Navitimer Series
- Windrider Series
- Professional Series
- Aeromarine Series

3. Help / Advice section would also be useful. Perhaps this could be more of an FAQ than a forum. If the answer to a question is not found in there, they can take it up in the relevant forum (depending on the model of their watch)

Another thing that I looked for when deciding on which watch to buy was good quality pictures. It would be nice if we had a good image library that showed all sides of our watches, dial colours, bracelets. I struggled to find any decent pics when I was deciding. There are already some awesome pics that could be used already.

Just my thoughts, hope it helps

I think this is not a bad idea, but with the volume of traffic the forum receives right now, they will be very slow. I think the majority of technical information for these watches can be found on the main site too... pictures of the front side and backs of all the watches is hard to get.. but would be a nice addition to the main site more so than the forums I think... and really if you can, its probably a good idea to see one in person at an AD.

If you need info on a particular model the search function is quite useful.

I've added the help/advice forum though :)

the help forum is a great idea. reading about the problems other people have and the answers is a great crash course in horology.
